yes but any external drive is going to be going through a USB or firewire interface AND since he is recording on a laptop my guess is that his sound processor is going through the same USB or Firewire interface.
My guess too is either processor or memory. You can run a test to see which one is...
Oh yeah, man. You are one badass label with that gear!
BTW inform the microphone forum! We now know that the perfect microphone for Rap is a Playstation 2 USB headset! After all, it is what the famous record label CTK uses!
I still would recommend going through the same agent/company that handles your homeowner's policy and if they won't cover it shop around for another company that will handle both coverages. The reason is you don't want in the event of a claim to have any problems with who covers it because they...
The best solution is to cantact the agent who handles your homeowners insurance and ask to look at the coverage limits and then ask to increase the limits on contents coverage. As long as the stuff is not being used as a professional studio with customers coming in and out and doesn't leave the...
Returning to the issue at hand unfortunately the mics won't be available until 9/8/06 so anybody who says that they have tried them is either a real insider or full of shit.
Go to these folks

They have both microphones and other accesories for recording with small devices like minidisks and mp3 players. However I would not expect great things from these recordings. Most of these players list 'voice recording' as their...
you want two panes of thick glass each in a separate frame (so that the frame itself does not transmit through. Since glass is about three times as dense as gypsum board the glass should be at least one third as thick as your total gypsum board sheathing. Usually the pane in the live room is...
The cheapest way to do this is to just drill a hole as small as possible, run the cable through, and then completely caulk up the hole so that your isolation is returned. It does mean that you now have a cable literally built into your booth, but cables are not expensive.
What Sonic Clang is getting at is that the kind of isolation that you can be sure what you are hearing through your monitors isn't being affected by what is coming out of your booth is expensive and heavy.
Or maybe ask youself is DI all that bad?
Although less of a requirement when doing two separate walls with an air gap the studs are not lined up. The reason is that sound travels through the studs too and by having the studs lined up the net air gap between the end face of one stud and the opposing stud is smaller.
Bill, I think Seeker is being a bit sarcastic here. either will probably be enough from an accoustic standpoint. Seeker is saying that the R value is a measure of thermal efficiency and nothing to do with accoustic performance. fro example styrofoam has excellent R-value but useless as socic...
Ok, let us start with question one. What is your goal from the booth? Is it:
1. To be able to record a dry track with little to no room reverb.
2. To be able to record the dry track while also not being able to hear outside noises and have your sound inside the booth be heard outside the...
Very informative Ethan.
In the diagram, what are X1 X2 X3 and Y? Also is the pink rectangle between the chair and the speaker the desk or a 'cloud' absorber overhead?
Bravo.
Playsax, if you told us the names of the mics that they had we could give you our opinions to try first, but to expect your friends to buy a new mic just to record you is a bit much.
You will need a microphone, a preamp, and some multitrack sound editing software. Then you need to look at the sound qualities of the space that you are looking at. You might be able to get away with mixing this kind of thing in quality headphones but you might want to invest in good monitors...
If by soundproof you mean not having your drumming be able to be heard upstairs then it boils down to this.
1. Auralex foam, or anybody's foam, will get you nothing. Neither will fiberglass absorbers.
2. There is no cheap solution.
rather than trying to find single pane fixed windows fabricate a simple frame yourself and buy the glass cut to size. After all these are not exterior windows that have to stand up to weather.
