    Pan problem when monitoring.

Alright here goes. Purchased a midiman audiophile usb for recording on the go with my laptop. Finally got software monitoring (sigh) to work pretty well with a latency of about 6 or 7 ms. When monitoring a stereo signal, it seems that the 'panning' is all mushed into the midle. Example...

    What´s the problem here??

You may wan't to uninstall the sb card altogether until your delta works well. Once everything works, re-install the sb. Make sure you run the midiman uninstall utility. Reboot as soon after you ran the utility and let windows re-detect the card. After, in the sound and multimedia options make...

    laptop vs. desktop

I deleted my previous post like a sissy boy, many people don't apreciate fine distinctions in technical acronyms and i'm not in the mood to get flamed on this. Let's start a tube guitar amp versus solid state guitar amp thread instead. It's more productive. hehe. just kidding. PC, personal...

    laptop vs. desktop

Both I get at worst 6ms latency with the laptop. The band uses the laptop to record our jams with an audiophile USB. Then I take it home and transfer to PC then make some EQ cuts and what have you while listening on the monitors that are hooked up to my amp & PC. Laptop is a great tool man...

    izotope ozone tips

I've got a tip. First off, when I visit this BBS, I tend to read through the threads and and up with lots of useful info (this isn't my tip.) When perusing the threads, most often than not, I find many seemingly short tempered people ... some even manage to piss off working audio professionals...

annoing popping using electronic roland kit.

Thanks skippy. You nailed it on the head. It's a matter of balls on the driver side and quality phones. Thank you.

annoing popping using electronic roland kit.

Big problem. The roland/pintech kit we use for jaming is giving us such a headache , it's unreal. It never produces pop's when recording .. of course .. it is electronic after all ... but when you try to play at a decent volume level .. it creates pops in the headphones when the drummer play...

Cubase SX audio output question, please help.

I'm just putting a comment here cause i'm curious to find the answer and want to be automatically notified when someone posts here. I've got an audiiophile card and need more inputs. I'd be looking at getting another one depending on the answer to this post.

    Installing Audiophile 2496?

.. oh yeah , the most important part. It installs flawlessly on windows 2000. The buffer size seting in the audiphile's control panel is set to 384 samples by default upon installation. I haven't had to change it. I did own win98SE at one point and installed the card on that 'operating...

    Installing Audiophile 2496?

If you want the best situation for the audiophile, use Windows 2000 pro. 98SE's MME driver aren't the best choice. You prolly want to take advantage of the WDM or ASIO type of drivers and from what i heard, Win2000 is best for that. Super stable at my place. Joy to work with. Never a pop...

    Direct Guitar Recording

Right on .. looking forward to hear it. I may try that soon. I've got access to a Korg Toneworks ax1500g and may try the same trick with my mesa boogie. It'd be nice to be able to 'ride' the track volumes in nuendo and get a good feel for how the two sounds 'blend' and compliement each...

    Installing Audiophile 2496?

i love my audiophile. The only way i could listen to CD audio however was with the latest version of Windows Media Player. I guess it actually dedicates a bit of CPU for streaming the CD data to the sound card. It's a shame the audiophile didn't come with the internal analog connector for...

    Direct Guitar Recording

volcano_lance, So i figure you're getting some good high end as a result of the direct POD line , then the 'oumph/body' comes from the amp. Is this correct? Tristan

    Direct Guitar Recording

sorry , may not be the right term. Multiband Harmonic Exciter. A product that's popular on this site, called iZotope Ozone provides the capability. (I only use izotope for this purpose, nothing else actually.) Steinberg mastering edition provides a similar 'single band' product called ME...

micing guitar amp with a mic preamp

you're right, mic position is king. i was just saying that in case of emergency, such as a mic being slightly knocked out of place or something on stage, then the preamp EQ can be used as a cheap hack attempt at getting a decent sound until the set is over and you can reposition the mic...

micing guitar amp with a mic preamp

James, It's certainly the amp's eq that i'd tweak .. i shouldn't have added the dumb comment about messing with the preamp's eq. I suppose if i was the engineer at a show, that I 'could' mess with the preamp eq 'in case of emergency' when the guys on stage don't have time to fool around with...

micing guitar amp with a mic preamp

What I have is something I shouldn't be using. It's a ROSS (should be called POS, heh) 12 chanel mixer. Thankfully it doesn't have effects .. but the effects loop is mono. (dumb) Basic active EQ. It's a good 'gig' Mixer .. but recording wise it isn't up to par. (noisy faders , colors the...
