    Your Love Completes Me (draft)

Hey, I liked this song. I checked it out over the weekend but for some reason my browser wouldn't stay logged in. Personally I'd do it differently, a little faster etc, but that's just because that's more of my style. The only thing I'll say negative about it is the "woman that is you...

help! im a newbie who wants to record

Well, generally people who start with 4 end up wanting more tracks. Don't get me wrong, you can still make some good recordings/demos. If your recorder has "virtual tracking" that helps a ton. For me it really helps to have alot of tracks to experiment with- also depending on the recorder you...

Vocals. How do they do that?

Picking on an artist because of a particular performance isn't very fair. I saw no doubt twice, and both times they were superb. THough other people I know have seen them also, and it seemed like they had a bad night or something. People have on and off days, especially when singing every...

lyrics nothing without hook/demons give songs?

"little demons by my bed whisper secrets, the kind you've never had" My demon's name is wormwood. I can see likening songwritting to divine intervention. Without a lyrical or musical "hook" a song won't be commercially successful. Still can be a good song. Hooks come from many things, a...

help! im a newbie who wants to record

If you already have a PC you may be able to get alot outta that 500 bucks. Otherwise, I'd suggest researching 4 tracks, or 8tracks, then looking for a used setup. Four tracks sucks, really it does, but it may be enough if you are just going to use it as a writting tool.

    The future of studio's???

I don't get the opposition to what this guy's saying. Yeah, some of what he says is retarded... then again, being experimental is what makes new stuff. And, I can relate to spending alot of money to make a demo, only to end up with something that I don't think is anything nearly as good as...

    Please help a newbie!

I'd say to research the soundcard a little more. You'll probably want something better. I havn't used the new line 6 setup yet, so I have no comment about it.

    Vocal effects help

You can eq the track too so that it is more distant from the rest of the instruments. Panning can help this effect too.

Vocals. How do they do that?

SOme guys just can't get into the zone while playing live. When recording, they can employ numerous technical tools to fix things, but.... generally I'd think they punch in and out MANY times, and have vocal trainers on hand to help them.

    ah! moral dillema(sp...!?!?)

I doubt many punk artists would buy music, unless it's a cover tune, or a friends song. Pegboy's still together? Damn, they do rock. But I thought they broke up awhile back. That's good news to me! I think alot of people's anti-punk sentiments are because they don't understand it, or think...

    proposed idea for songwritters....

From another thread I got this idea.... The idea was from someones technique of taking a story from the news, and quickly writting a song about it as practice. Anyway, we could create a group. THis group would have an idea posted by a member once a week, any idea... storys from the news...

    ah! moral dillema(sp...!?!?)

Hahahah. The evil starts. I remember the same thing. My friends couldn't understand what was happening to me. Seriously, those bands you mentioned.... well... I don't really consider them to be that great. Though they do have some decent songs somtimes, (I do like blink I guess- they're...

    forget verse/chorus/verse/chorus/verse/chorus/verse/chorus/verse/chorus/

Heh, I'm more of a post-1850 type too. I didn't mean to say that modulations didn't happen before then, they did, but the rules were much more rigid, in terms of arrangement of the song, the harmonies, the melodies..... At first I thought the rules would make things unexpressive, but it's...

    forget verse/chorus/verse/chorus/verse/chorus/verse/chorus/verse/chorus/

Re: Then get out yer straight-jackets, boys... Actually, if your talking "classical" your probably not meaning to include "art music" which uses all twelve tones. Typically classical sticks very closely to its given scales, except in transition areas where it will moderate to another...

Naw, you arn't wired too different. :) I do that sometimes too. I kinda think of it as a give and take.....

    forget verse/chorus/verse/chorus/verse/chorus/verse/chorus/verse/chorus/

If you already havn't studied classical music, I suggest that you do. Alot of times it's about themes and varieties of the themes, so to an extent... there is some repetition. It's how you get that effect of "knowing what's coming next". Sometimes I've noticed rock artists not having a...

    HOW do you write?

Good points, Chris. I seldom am able to just sit down and work on something intentionally and get something good. Then again, I've been able to come up with some killer music like that, just the words/etc don't work well with it. One thing I have found usefull while NITPICKING an already...
