    Korg D1200s

I bought one of these off ebay, risky I know. I'm a gambler I guess. Anyhoo, it didn't come with the instructional video just the manual. I just about exploded my head trying to figure this thing out. It was a far reach from my Tascam 414 I was used to using. After two days I'm recording and...

Best mics for micing guitar amps?

Update.. Just got a new, well used Korg D1200, digital recorder. Recorded guitar with SM57 results were better with this recorder, probably because of the 3 way EQ and Frequency dial. There's definitely room for improvement, I got my eye out for a Shure KSM27! Then we'll see. Peace love and...

Oh, I should add I didn't come up with all of this stuff on my own. Got to give credit to noground and the others here who were so kind in helping me. Mas

Best mics for micing guitar amps?

Thanks everybody (noground), thanks freeztar for the article, interesting reading. So it seems to get that pro sound it takes more than a simple SM57 or e609, makes sense because these mics have a limited frequency range. Having a couple of mics placed in different locations, dynamic and...

Best mics for micing guitar amps?

Thanks again noground I've been doing my own little research by going to the AKG and Shure websites and looking up their recomendations for guitar amp micing. According to the AKG they recommend a C3000 for guitar amps, something about it's SPL being able to withstand very loud intruments. The...

Best mics for micing guitar amps?

Well like I said in an earlier post, I'm getting a better recorder soon. I'll try again with my SM57 and then after I've tried everything and if I'm still not happy then I'll think about getting a better mic, a condenser most likely. I know the dynamics do just fine but fine isn't really what...

Best mics for micing guitar amps?

Round and round we go... I already have an SM57 and it just doesn't cut it for acurate recording. I think noground is correct.

Flat line? measurement mic? sorry I'm not familiar with these terms. So a measurement mic is a dynamic mic? And the Sennhesier is that a dynamic? So where do you place your mic?

Best mics for micing guitar amps?

Thanks noground I'm recording both clean and distortion. A little jazz, blues and a little rock nothing to heavy. But what you're saying makes sense because condenser mics have broader frequency ranges so they'll pick up more of the complete sound that a dynamic mic which has a lower frequency...

    The best Digital Multitrack Recorders

Check out the Korg D1200 or the D1600 one is a twelve track and the other is a sixteen track. The D1200 retails for about 1000.00 and the D1600 for around 1300.00. I just purchased a D1200 off of ebay for 650.00 haven't got it yet though. Anyway from what I've been told and from what I've heard...

Best mics for micing guitar amps?

I'm actually not familiar with a lot of mics. In fact I know nothing other than what a dynamic mic is, like the SM58 and SM57. I've yet to purchase a condencer mic but it looks like I'm going to have to try one. I don't know these mics you all are mentioning because I've never heard of them. But...

Best mics for micing guitar amps?

Variety of sound Seinnhieser e609 silver? Is that a dynamic mic? Lets face it there are a lot of good mics out there the SM57 is just one. I guess different mics will give you different results. I'm getting a new Korg D1200 soon I'll see if that makes a difference in sound recording. Otherwise...

Best mics for micing guitar amps?

Ok all you master recorders, I need some advice. What's a good mic for recording an electric guitar amp? I have a SM57 mic which I've been using but I notice it doesn't capture the amps true sound. I want something that going to capture the sound as close as possible. Would a condenser mic be...

    Playing with Cakewalk 2002

Hi, a friend gave me a copy of Cakewalk 2002. So I plugged something in my Line In jack and recorded something using my cheap soundcard that came with my computer AC'97. Well I got it to record but the recording isn't coming out clear. The levels are fine and all it's just the result of...

    Tascam 788 outputs

Hi, what outputs does the 788 come with? I'm wondering if it has the RCA Line Out jacks and the RCA monitor out jacks as well. What about inputs? Does it have the effects send inputs? Thanks Massi

Please Help Me Fix This! (Short 1 min cut)

Well this song has potential, right now it's just a sketch. First of all the flow of the song is upset by the struggling of trying to find chords and lyrics. That alone can kill a performance as it almost does this one. Then in the middle of the song aprox 3:49 sec. where the second guitar...
