whats the answer, vocals are recorded through analog I/O, correct? i don't have time to decide, I've found a deal irresistably cheap, never mind, it went up alot... but i'd still like an answer if possible. is a single channel preamp good enuff, or is a stereo one recommended...by you that is?
thanks...
The mc-303 groovebox looks kinda cool, but it doesn't seem like the route I had in mind, right now I'm just trying to make sure I get everything I think I NEED... thanks for the offer, I think the keyboard I end up with will do good enuff for sounds...everything else I'll just sample...
here's something...
What makes a sound card play back and record from what I've deciphered is on most soundcards called, full duplex operation...this will not let you record more than on instument at a time, that's where channels enter the scene.
The RME cards have a new enhanced full duplex...
I've got the prices in equipment canadian and all i got enough for is the delta 1010 and event 20/20 bas monitors...that comes to 2500 canadian, remarkable!!! So I'm feeling like a jackass for getting myself excited about the things I can't afford...
and that's at 600$ for delta1010 and 700$...
because...
every site jocks some company's products, go to another site and all people will be talking about is hoontech or echo etc... Although this site shows interest in a lot more cards than most, it still basically buzzes about midiman and aardvark...don't worry about it, it doesn't mean...
yeah...
Two channels for analog to digital IS all you need for vocals, this will let you record in stereo and that's all you'd ever want...so go for the converter in my oppinion eh...
I'm going to get the event 20/20bas, but I'm not sure if it's right because their dircet feild monitors...Is this the kind I need for the basic home studio in a normal room?
Their's near feild and other types of feild's, is the direct what is good for me...?
Or if you wouldn't know what's for...
to sum it up...
From word of mouth only...
Logic more confusiing...
I think Logic's abit more powerfull...
Eitherway, I always hear peeps complaining about their cubase, but I think alot more peaple use cubase...
It's hard to keep up, because everytime anew patch, driver or version comes out it...
I'm convinced....
The delta 1010 seems the ticket now that I know how many I/O's I'll NEED, seems like more than I need, but I guess that wouldn't be a problem... I've seen this card cheap, can I get it less than $600, or what's the best price you've seen for this this, besides ebay...?
600...
hmm, I'd like to first just mention those I/O's where just guesses at where things would go, I really didn't need to put a preamp in the digital outs and not analog, I just don't know any better...
I'm stumped... I think your right, about the I/O's, but i wouldn't call the lynx a rip-off, it's...
Tom hicks!
what is your purpose for upgrading, better sound, more I/O's, everything?...because the hoontech is really just giving you everything. You might just wanna get something of high quality to improve the area(s) you feel is(are) lacking.
alright, I'm just going to point out sonusman mainly focuses on punk/ska/metal type music with instruments etc from the impression I got. I have no plans on using any instruments for recording anything but vocals, and the only thing I will ever record at one time will be vocals...as for software...
thanks!
Can you say wether I have enuff I/O's with the lynx for my setup.
Or if how I explained it will work...???
"If you're OK with that, then you are an idiot and you should buy the Lynx."
I'm sure I'm not the only one on this board that would take the lynx over what you've presented...am...
WHY!!!!!
why am I wrong, does the Lynx not have the best converters of any soundcard without buying an extra 800 dollar ad converter with a soundcard... I'm running out of paitience more than you ever will. Give me three reasons why this card is not explosive. THREEEEEE!!!!! or even one, I...
I was worried, when I wasn't desperate for a card.
concerned with, because converters are the most important in the chain, a good preamp will make little to no difference after 200-300$, a good mic yes, but good converters will make the most difference, and there's no way to get great sound...
I'm still not clear too...
"I'm still trying to figure out what functions MIDI is used for in such a setup."
All I know is I need midi to use a keyboard, I'm not sure about this whole controller + sound mudule etc setup... Is this the only way to go, I want to create sounds, have many sounds...
