i would recommend putting the crowd mics on the light's rails on the ceiling (if they've got them...they should have)...I've done this before with a couple of EV dynamic mics which I gaffer-taped to the rails, but didn't pick up a whole lot of the crowd sound (we won't call it noise :D...

yeah I gather it's just like you said tex...good feature to have on the board indeed...I mean if you're dealing with two or three tracks to be muted every now and again you could do it even manually, but with a few of them at the same time it gets a bit out of hand... thanks
