    Doin' it LIVE!

i would recommend putting the crowd mics on the light's rails on the ceiling (if they've got them...they should have)...I've done this before with a couple of EV dynamic mics which I gaffer-taped to the rails, but didn't pick up a whole lot of the crowd sound (we won't call it noise :D...

    Building home project studio..need input

how many pre amps have you got...if you're a drummer I guess you'll be recording them "live", so you'll need at least 3-4 pre-amps for that...a small mixer could help you out there, and be used for monitoring as well...how many i/o is the motu??again you'll need minimum of 3-4 (depends on how...

that's debatable.....not saying that Focusrite is the top shelf, and that FMR hasn't got great value products, but Focusrite has a few quality "toys" released over the years ;)

    VTB-1 or RNC or Meek?

buy a decent preamp for tracking your vocals, and use VLZ's for the other instruments....the compressor you have may do the job.... oops....I haven't read Gidge's post until now...that was basically it..

    VST 5 24bit -16Bit

not really...looks like my tour times are over..hehe...let's hope not to be honest, none of the ways are good enough for proper mastering IMHO, but Wavelab could probably help you a bit more in this domain, as it's got a couple of handy effects....(like "puncher")...but Wavelab is...

    Mute automation on analog consoles...

yeah I gather it's just like you said tex...good feature to have on the board indeed...I mean if you're dealing with two or three tracks to be muted every now and again you could do it even manually, but with a few of them at the same time it gets a bit out of hand... thanks
