    Avoiding synthy strings

try saturation. with the right plug, you can automate it, to bring up the saturation during just the lower sections, or just break the track out and apply it where it's appropriate. i use Waves Magma BB Tubes plug for this purpose.

The Day they Robbed the Bank of England (old and new mixes)

I POSTED the new version in this same thread, so you could compare the versions, between my standard mix elements, and using the Curve plug almost exclusively. THE TAKEAWAY: what took me several weeks of mix sessions, listening, fixing, testing, remixing, etc.... i did in one hour with...

The Day they Robbed the Bank of England (old and new mixes)

thanks for listening OSHC! i appreciate it. yes, this was a child of the pandemic. LOL i had time.... a luxury i never have any more... time to spend on inventing parts and boiling them down to exactly how i wanted them, and then try to mix it all! LOL , which of course, was the very hard...

    Dark Spanish Night -Remix 3-

very tasty. nice tone on that acoustic. it'd be nice to hear a key change during the long first solo section, so the walking bass line has a chance to change the mood.

SORRY MAN, post #7 says it all. i've made 2 more mix sessions on this one since i posted, but there is so little interest, i'll focus on the next one to post soon. like i previously said, it's 10 songs total, i'm doing final mix balances on now. gotta get busy!

    Middle of Nowhere

hey talisman, thanks for listening! heh, you're the first one to mention lack of bass! got tons of bass on playback here... i'll focus on the eq of the bass, i think i can bring level up, without swamping the low end. <edit> yep, i found build up at 80hz and 160hz, that was not allowing me...

    Middle of Nowhere

hey odi! thanks for listening vox is panned center, guitars are hard left and right, plus the guitars have dynamic eq with mid-side processing on them, so as to 'hollow out' the middle for the vox... so, i'm not sure what to make of this one, i'll do some solo'ing on the vox EQ overall, vs the...

    Middle of Nowhere

another new test mix, i want this one spacy, but not too spacy... drums dry, but with a bit of room character. this is the 1st of a couple of passes at final mix. want to make sure the bass sits ok.

'Michael's House", working on final mix

hi El, thanks for listening, glad you dig the stuff i'm doing. delay on the 3rd stone part, check... i'm using a send for other channels for that part, but it'd be easy to just add one just for that section, and dial it in more. i think i used the vocal delay, which is set up different than...

'Michael's House", working on final mix

hey rfr, thanks for commenting! i'll focus a bit on the vox, see if maybe a bit of SSL compression might just bring it a bit forward, i like the eq and leveling as it is now, but don't want to just add level or treble to get them to stick out. i'm really trying to draw the listener in further...
