I've used my Tascam 414 as a mixer when practicing with someone else. That way we can run both our guitars and my drum machine through. It's convenient and it works and it works well enough if we want to lay down some scratch tracks.
But for keeper tracks, no way. Just like everybody else...
I have tried this with my 4-track (a step down from yours, a Tascam 414) and yes, it works, but the sound quality isn't great. I do this mostly when I'm working on material with my partner. I use the 414 to mix his guitar, my bass, and my drum machine, run it all into the PC, and either just...
For me the single most important thing I've learned is that cutting is usually better than boosting when applying EQ (and obviously only when needed). There have been lots of other nuggests I've learned but I think that one thing and making a point to apply it has helped me more than anything...
Small world indeed. I have a cousin who's lived on Carlton for probably about 20-25 years. I know her's was one of the first large developments in the area. Her address is 86 Carlton Ave. Where were you? Sounds like you were VERY close to where she is.
My development is on what used to be...
GTFOH!!!!! When was that?
When I first moved to NJ in 1986 I lived in Voorhees. Then right after we got married (1990) my wife and I bought a house in Marlton and have been there ever since.
Where were you? Wait, let me guess. King's Grant, right? We live at the other end of...
Easy!
Simple. Click on the mixer icon on the menu bar at the top. For each track there will be an "M" button - for Mute - and an "S" button - for Solo. Use as needed.
When you save the song, it will retain whatever setting you have for each individual track - muted, soloed, or neither. If...
I just went through that exact same question. The guy I'm working with bought the Aardvark package last week and was also able to do a Pro Audio 9 to SONAR 2.2 upgrade for $99 (Cakewalk had an internet sale that expired on 5/31). Sam Ash matched the price I found for him at Digital Pro Audio...
Very good point SoMm
I always do the same thing - saving copies of all my passwords, authorization codes, etc. When I had to rebuild my PC and couldn't find my licensed FASOFT plugins (compressor and parametric EQ), I sent Flavio that info and he was very quick about getting me fresh copies...
I own a MIM Jazz Deluxe V and absolutely love it. However, the MIM P-Bass Special was a very close second. It seemed like a very good bass for the money.
Not valid in New Jersey?!?!?!?!? See if I ever you offer any help!!! :D ;) :p
Actually, I just bought a copy of SONAR last weekend after having used n-Track for the last few years. I'm guessing I'll be asking for a whole lot more help than I offer for the foreseeable future...
I tortured myself with the Omni vs. Aardvark question and finally bought a Delta Omni Studio bundle today. Part of the reason was that the guy I'm working with bought the Aardvark. I thought this would be a good way to test out both and see how they compare. If I really hate the Omni and...
Man, I looked at quite a few items on Digital Pro Audios site and they beat just about every one. The guy Im working with ("manifold") just bought a Direct Pro 2496 / Pro Audio 9 bundle today at Same Ash for $500, mostly because I convinced him it looked like a great deal. That's the same...
Better faster? I'd say some for some of us it's more a matter of sucking less a little bit faster than it is a matter of actually getting better! Of course, I won't mention my, ... errrr, .... any names. :D   ;)
I lurk in the Mixing Clinic far more than I actually...
One pre-order, coming up!
... Actually, it's a pre-order for two sets. I just droped it in the mail this morning.
You know, if that August 1 deadline holds I'll be able to give one to my Mom for her birthday. But don't let the joy and pride she'll feel seeing her son's work on a *REAL* CD...
You made your Mom buy one?!?!? Cheap bastard! I'm ordering two extras, one for my parents and one for whatever.
That is, if you get around to answering the email I sent you early this morning ... :D
