    Ndd

nice little score Ndd! If it has midi capabilities (which it probably has) then you can always map/trigger new sounds from other midi devices. OOPS read the thread too fast. It does have midi. :)

    Clean Tube Amp Head

The HRD wouldn't be a bad choice. A couple of mods to it and it can be a sweet little amp.

    Getting 'that' snare sound

When drummers tighten up on the snares the result ends up choking the snare drum and producing the thin sound. The snares have to resonate against the resonant head to produce that crack. Have the drummer loosen up the snares and while you're monitoring, have him tighten the snares a little at...

Drum panning? L to R or or R to L?

LOL....and you know THAT guy is out there. Whatever works for the mix to balance it out.

Why Paint The Inside Of A Drum Shell? Why gray?

yes, some of the companies use/used it as a sealer. Old Ludwigs had white interiors or clear, Rogers had grey as did Gretsch. Most used it to hide the bad grain patterns of the wood. These days a clear coat is used and, yes, it can affect the tone. Some swear for the better some for the worse.

What are the cheapest options for DIY room treating?

you can use the pink stuff as well. don't take it out of the bag, leave it packed up and put it in the corner as bass traps. go to whatever hardware store that has it. you can stack em up for more bass trapping. r19 would be ok and probably cheaper. throw some material over it to make it...

The Age Old Question of Skins,

For versatile playing, try the Remo coated Ambassadors with clear Diplomat/Ambassador resonant or the Evans G2 coated with Genera/G1 clear. you can add the moon gels to dampen but i like the wide open sound of a well tuned kit. You can tune to taste (pitch bend up, pitch bend down or same...

    Creating more sonic space?

How many mics did you use on the drums? aaaahhh......just saw your post. that's why they sound so far back in the mix. Just room mics on the kit? no snare or kick mic?

    SM58's on the drum kit?

i've used them before in a pinch. it was 2 SM58s as overheads and an SM57 for the kick. it was for a jazz gig and worked but not sure what style of music you favor. Experiment with mic placement to get the best sound possible. this can be time consuming but it pays off when you find that...
