    Dynacomp

I got one on the stupid deal of the day a while back but I haven't really tried it yet. I usually hate guitar compressors.

Now that you mention it, I'm not hearing the full reverb on the Normal channel - just a little bit of it.

    The New Tone Thread

Here are some clips from my new-to-me Deluxe Reverb. I used the "Normal" input #1, and adjusted the volume and tone controls for it. The Reverb (on the other channel, but still affects the "normal" channel for some reason) was all the way down. I played my Gibson SG Supreme on the bridge 57...

What kind of cable for wiring home studio patchbay?

I use Canare quad to make cables - I'm just not very good at it :)

    Headphone Choice

I know it's out of the budget (but not much? You've got those fancy £ things) but I can heartily recommend the Focal Spirit Pro - great for tracking

ShanPeyton - that was fun to listen to. The drums have enough treble, I think, but the vocals could sure use some. The guitars might be OK. Bass sounds great! Bubba Po - awesome - great performances all around. Gerg is a kickass drummer (and bass player? I lost the plot on who played...

new amp day! Fender Deluxe Reverb!

I made one quick recording but didn't like it - bad mic position, I think. I'll do better and post soon. I took out the reverb tank and discovered it was brand new - I think the bag it was in had a wrinkle in the bottom that was pushing the spring assembly up against the top of the tank...

What kind of cable for wiring home studio patchbay?

If you're going to be routing microphone level signals, you probably want to avoid quad, because the capacitance from the extra copper could conceivably affect the sound. For line level signals I don't think it's a concern. Quad is supposed to have better EM interference rejection, but I don't...

I thought they both sounded good too

new amp day! Fender Deluxe Reverb!

I'm kind of reluctant to say it (because of my reflexive loyalty to the British amps), but this Deluxe Reverb might have the best lead sound of any amp I've ever played - sounds great even completely dry and at low volume - much better when cranked of course, and I haven't tried much in the way...

new amp day! Fender Deluxe Reverb!

The amp in the foreground is not loud. The amps in the background are loud. (sorry, Greg's not here - somebody's gotta do it)

new amp day! Fender Deluxe Reverb!

I'll try and take some guts shots soon. Since today is my actual anniversary, I think I'll have to follow up a little later I think the reverb is messed up - it sounded OK in the store but now I think maybe the springs are hitting the inside of the tank or something.

new amp day! Fender Deluxe Reverb!

Here's the speaker - not my finest photography, but hopefully you can see it Edit - after some web searching it looks like maybe this is an Oxford ceramic? Nobody's favorite apparently but so far it seems consistent with being the original speaker. Lots of info out there - wow - it will take...

No - it has a blue label - I'll try to post a picture soon

new amp day! Fender Deluxe Reverb!

THanks Track rat and everyone! Robus - your description of the breaking up is pretty much the same as what I'm seeing. Lt. Bob - leads - yes! I need to try with some pedals. fat_fleet - I hadn't thought about the badge. They told me it was the original speaker, but I wouldn't know. It says...

new amp day! Fender Deluxe Reverb!

Tomorrow's my 25th wedding anniversary (we get started real young down here in the southern usa), and I got my wife a new vehicle that's sort of silver in color because it's the "silver jubilee", and she asked what I wanted... She doesn't know the difference between a silver face and a black...

    The New Tone Thread

JDOD - sounds good to me - I too would like to hear a big solo. Rayc - yes, too much gain for me as well - just thought I'd try it for a change. When we cover that song in my band, the gain knob is down a couple of notches and the volume is way up. I knew I left something out of the signal...

    The New Tone Thread

Thanks minerman! It's totally dry - I did add some digital gain to push it closer to zero but that's it. The amp has a harmonic overtone thing going on I guess.
