If it was me, I wouldn't build splayed walls. With 10' x 20' you'd lose a ton of floor space to acheive the 12 degrees. If that were my space, I would buy a ton of 4" mineral wool. I would fill each wall stud cavity with a sheet, along the top row. This would funcion as a corner bass trap...

Its pretty close for the cost difference. The 4" is same/better in some frequencies, and still cheaper. If it was me, I'd go with the rockwool unless I needed the rigidness of the O.C.. (I have both in my studio)

I use mostly 1/4" as well but plugs are plugs. I have four, 6 foot cables that are 1/4" on one side, and rca on the other. I leave the RCA side plugged in all the time, and just swap out preamp or whatever on the way in. THe other set are out to the monitors.

I don't see any reason he couldn't continue to use the 24/96 for awhile. I don't think the converters in anything in the $300 range going to be better enough to really hear.

I agree, the card is fine for things other than music tracking. I have a slower PC with the same ram, running fine at 6ms latency at 512 samples. Use the SB for games, use a Recording card for music.
