drum loops (how to record them)

There are many ways to do this. If you have a computer, you have pretty much "unlimited" options for sequencing drums and drum loops and then sending them to your DAW - you don't need a separate machine other than a computer and your DAW. what you will need is a loop/ sample playing program...

    Mics

My guess is that it's the mixer. I've got a Behringer MX802a (8 track behringer), and I've recently noticed that the mic preamps in the mixer suck, they suck real bad. You probably didn't notice this too much before, because you didn't have to use the preamps too much to use the PZM (because...

    Sennheiser MD431 II

Actually, I think that most "live" mics are designed to pick up less indirect noise, since on stage you'd be surrounded by amps and drums and whatnot. A live mic might be good for use in a small studio where you can't separate amps from drums, and other noise. You should try it out, though...

Converting Soundfonts for use in ampler/sound module?

I think that the newer Emu samplers let you load soundfonts directly. Other samplers, I have no clue...

    different types of sennheiser 421...

I'm thinking of buying a Sennheiser 421, however, I was just wondering what the difference between the 421's is... I see a Sennheiser 421U and a 421 II - I have seen at least 4 different suffixes... what's the difference between them all?? Thanks.

Poll: Who is responsible for all the crap on the radio? (NOTE - multiple answers ok)

Sorry to say this, but music has always been image. Ever heard of the Beatles? Yeah... they made movies about themselves... all image. Ever heard of Monkees... yeah, they pretended to be the Beatles and they were on TV... that was back in the day. Wanna hear about something that was way back...

    frequency response of cassette tape?

I was wondering if anybody knew, in general, what the frequency response of cassette tape is - I guess this is a theoretical question, under best of circumstances. does it approach reel to reel? I think that's something around 40HZ to 20kHz.

    Which Microphone?

I'm not going to recommend an MPC over the Triton - especially since you will be dropping alot of cash to pick either of these up. I've never used a Triton so I don't know how they are different - I'm just trying to open up your horizons - so you can explore for yourself. I think alot of new...

    Which Microphone?

http://www.mackie.com/record/1202vlzpro/index.html - this is a mackie mixer. http://www.mpc2000xl.com/ - here's some stuff about the MPC2000 THe reason I say MPC2000 - is because it's supposed to be the standard for hip-hop - also a sampler is more versatile than a keyboard because you can...

    Which Microphone?

It's not a mixer - it doesn't have knobs to control the volume of each input. Also, I don't see any phantom power. It would work with your SM58 - and any keyboards you plugged in, but it won't work with condenser mics. Also, I don't see any XLR inputs - just two 1/4" inputs. So it might not...

    Which Microphone?

Actually, you could avoid the mixer if you got a mic/ instrument combo preamp (I think they have those) and just plug that into your card - but if you got a mixer, I think you would want to plug everything into your mixer first, and then into your soundcard - just so you are able to control...

    Which Microphone?

small mixer or mic pre most mic pre's and mixers have phantom power in them. If you're just going to record one mic at a time, I would look into a mic pre - otherwise, since you were talking about a Triton, you might want to get a mic pre and a mixer - a mic pre because you'll need one anyways...

    Which Microphone?

more detail w'all (we all) :) would like to know more about what you are thinking about doing in your home studio - and what kind of setup you are using/ going to use. There are tons of microphones under $300. It's hard to pick just one at random.

    tips for cohesive mix

Hi, I'm just starting to multitrack myself playing live instruments. Before I mostly just did computer based music. I really enjoy doing live multitracking, moreso than just making music by point- and - click - and type method... getting back to my roots so to speak. Blah blah blah - anyway...

    Recording Vocals

record the PA?? HEy, I know that time is money in a recording environment, but if you like the singer's sound through a PA, or at least better than a clear recording, why don't you experiment with mic-ing the PA as the singer is singing through it? You could also have a mic going straight...

weird effect blew up my amp??

I might try to see if I can finagle the warranty out of it at the music store I purchased it at. There's a small chance the receipt's still around here somewhere, so, that should make the whole deal alot easier. Thanks all.

weird effect blew up my amp??

yep Yep, but I still paid for it, so I want to get my $3.62 worth ;) In reply to DJL, I think I misunderstood what you said, I am now goofing with the headphone socket and pluggin/ unplugging it, I will let you know how that goes.
