For the Record: I got it to work using the VSR as Master,sending MTC to the 880EX,and having the 880EX send the Song Position Pointer(sync track) to the sequencers.Works fine.

Another good choice is the Tascam CDRW-700 which is around $599 street price and similar feature set to the Marantz.
