New bass strings are WAAAY too bright...

Sounds to me like you got some Stainless Steel strings on there.Stainless is way brighter than Nickel plated at first, but they will smooth out after a while.

    Pre-Amps On 1680

I have a VS 880EX and a VSR 880(rack mount VS). What worked for me was to get my hands on a Midiman Flying Calf 24 bit A/D converter.I plug my source (sometimes my Mackie, sometimes something else) into it and then come out of it via S/PDIF into the Dig. ins on the VS. Sounds better, good hot...

    Vs 880 Ex To Cd-r??

If you want to burn an audio CD,you can hook up any CD recorder on the market to the S/PDIF outputs of the VS and it will work tits up.For backup of data,I hate to admit that I paid $500 for one but the Roland works great and CDRW's are a hell of a lot cheaper than Zip discs per Meg. BUT,there's...

can u hear the differece between a 30ft guitar cord and a 5 ft cord?

One of the myriad coolnesses of EMG pickups is that they output a low impedance signal which is much less sensitive to cable induced anomalies.

    Power Amps..

I haven't heard it but there's a review of it in the most recent Guitar Player.

    Reverb etc...for acoustic guitar/vocals

IMHO the Digitech would be a good bet if it's in good working order.I have the same processor (SDISC) that's in the TSR24 in a Digitech guitar preamp(GSP2101) and the FX and EQ are of pretty good quality especially considering the box is over 6 years old.The TSR24 was their high end FX unit...

    Vs 880 Ex W/mackie 1402 Vlz?

The A?D converters in the VS 880EX simply aren't that great and the method I described above allows one to bypass them on the way in.Trust me,it sounds better no matter what your source is.There are other good quality A?D's out there,I got a smokin' deal on my 24 bit Calf,it works for me...

    Nice little guitar

Yeah,it was only after picking it up that I realized it was a Jackson, but I didn;t let that stop me (I really dislike the looks of every other Jackson I've ever seen.) The main thing is those huge frets on what must be at least a 15" radius fretboard.Lovely and so un Fenderlike!

    Vs 880 Ex W/mackie 1402 Vlz?

Hi! I have both a 1402VLZ and an 880EX.Yes you can do all you spoke of,although I personally don't see why you would want to put drums on 1 track. The Mackie has what they call "Alt 3/4 buses that can be used independantely of the main outputs. You'll see,the Mackie manual is as dissimilar from...

    Nice little guitar

While visiting family I went into a music store and played around with a Jackson PS-7,a Strat type with H-S-S pickups and a Wilkenson Trem.Nice neck, big frets on a flat board, nice trem, nice finish(Trans Green Flame top on Alder body). Nice price:$298,so I got it! Plus I found a set of EMGs...

    HELP Which drum machine???????

Hi Pier,To me the R-70 sounds about as real as any other drum machine I've ever heard, and to be fair there will always be a difference between any machine and a real drum kit.But logistically it's a lot simpler to make home recordings with a drum machine which is why I use them. You may find...

    Power Amps..

An amp with a tube output section will work better for guitar than an SS.

    HELP Which drum machine???????

Roland R-70 I'd recommend the Roland R-70.It's no longer in production, but it had nice big pads and a lot of good sounds plus some features I've never seen on other machines such as "Song Expert" where you choose a style and a structure and the machine creates a whole drum track for you.I got...

VS-1880- I want to share the joy

Things can change But they DO have a question/answer forum and many people get their 1880 questions answered on it.I was just there a half hour ago(I have a VS880EX and a VSR880).

Getting a blues or twang tone out of a Digitech RP100

I have the RP200 and I set the pedal to control amp gain. With the "Hotrod"(Boogie) or "Boutique"(Matchless) amps selected, just backing the pedal up reduces the gain enough to get a nice purr for blues. For twang I'd try the "Blackface" model with gain around 70 or 80 and the compressor engaged...

    VSR-880

The VSR has 8 analog inputs and outputs on RCA phono jacks so if you had the proper cables (RCA to 1/4" jack) you could work very easily with it and a Mackie mixer, plus there are a pair of inputs on the front which can be operated independantely of the 8 RCA's.I got mine about 6 weeks ago but I...

    WHAT IS THE RIGHT CHOICE

Hard Disc recorders such as the 788 and models by Roland and Yamaha offer increased editing capabilities and the ability to store multiple takes on the sams track ("virtual tracks") but they have a steeper learning curve than tape based systems. It is also usually necessary to purchase some type...
