I have both a Kiwi cable and a Monster 500,and the Kiwi beats the Monster IMO.It looks better too.

At the price point,the Canadian builders are worth looking at.Larrivee,Seagull,Simon&Patrick.

Both Revox (Studer) and Tandberg used to make 1/4" machines where each channel was half the width of the tape.At 15ips they sounded very good.I wouldn't mind having one now.
