The TSR8 I just got needs a belt too...got that coming hopefully today. Once I ve got that sorted out and the machine lubed and cleaned I 'm going to be hot for a pinch roller. Sadly, if youve got a machine thats nice and all you need is that damn roller, youll pay the 80 or whatever

Anybody interested in a whole BOX of Tascam PCB's? Mostly 388 and M-300 mixer parts?

Hey Cory.... Need SOMETHING for my 308B, but not sure what. A least one channel is wonky, and the solo buss is has some sort of issue.Last time I used it I got frustrated and pulled it from my system and set it in the corner. I just picked up a TSR8 so now I need to get the 308 sorted out so I...

Pinch (rubber roller) roller for Tascam 38

I need the same thing for a TSR-8 and its also like $75-$80. I was going to try Tascam directly, although I have concerns (valid???) that their NOS rollers are going to not last or be just as bad as the one I am replacing. Anyone have experience with Tascam suppled old stock rollers??

Anyone use American Recorder S-721H to clean their deck?

Not familiar with that formula but there seems to be some good web-words on other forums. I have never used a product that would be friendly to rubber parts AND effectivly clean the metal parts. NOT foam... use cotton swabs (Q tips). Foam can disintegrate/ melt and make a bigger mess than u...

Tascam 388 Transport Issue - Video Posted

Arrgh. I have had this issue on every 388 I have owned at one time or another. Its not primarily a tension problem . Use R112 and R212 to move the servo arms up to about the midpoint. Use a plastic (not metal) screrw driver/trimmer. The clue for me was it ran at speed when you pushed the...

Revox PR99 Mk II: Can I use headphone output instead of line outs?

I have a Revox PR99-II that has an issue with the channel 2 line output...like, there is no output. When i got the machine it was heating up and had smoked one of the resistors (R5 or R6) on the output board, like it had a short somewhere. I replaced both resistors (L+R channels) and cleaned up...

Not sure if its similar to the 1140 I had, but there were loads of edge connectors inside that often need cleaning and re-seating

Tascam 388 STEREO BUSS IN routing?

The stereo bus inputs are not routeable to the channels. They are routed directly to the stereo masters along with the effects returns. To quote from the 388 manual: " These RCA connectors allow input to the STEREO Buss system at a point prior to the STEREO MASTER Fader. They will accept a line...

Extension to program a recording on a Revox ?

I have a Teac made timer unit for my 6300. It seems to basically be a remote control that automatically punches the machine into play or record when the machine is powered on, say, by a standard mechanical timer. It would seem to be fairly simple to make a plug or jumper that would emulate the...

How Many Regular Members Are No Longer Here?

Im not one of the 'old guard' and admittedly do absolutely no real "home recording" any longer. Alas time and life demands as well as motivation have shifted my efforts to being much more of a listener than anything else. Been slowly selling off stuff, but being a gear slut I havent yet broken...

Help evaluating heads on a Revox B77

Not for $650. The heads look to have some wear and the guides certainly have flatting. Of conern to me is what looks like oxidation on the top of the head cover pin on the left, and orange corrosion inside the capstan center hoile. While not an issue by themselves, they may be a sign that the...

Can I PLAY any tape on any machine??

Much has been made of having a reel to reel biased for the particular tape type being RECORDED upon, but what about a machine PLAYBACK capability?? At issue is I am finally making time to sort thru my large tape collection, which is made up of a vast variety of manufacturers, thicknesses...

...so I got all these tapes...

I completed going thru all my 1/2" tapes, so herein I will run down the results. A lot of this data is redundant to all of the other sticky shed stuff out there, but since I had to do do something with the tapes anyway, I ran my own test on all of them. >>These were all session tapes which...
