    Neat trick...

Nice rustyfingers! Hey does anyone know how to assign CEP transport controls to something like the transport controls on a consoul like a Ghost. I've got the Ghost with the computer and it has transort buttons. It would be really cool to get them to fire CEP.... Just noticed you live right up...

    Punching In

Yeah man, to me this is one of, if not the coolest thing about CEP, the ability to set any function to any keyboard shortcut. Think of the 6 or 8 things you do the most. Then program them to F1 - F12. For me they are: zoom in, zoom out, zoom full, multitrack/edit mode toggle, repeat last...

    frequency splitting

You know them better than me, but I'd guess they are busy with many other concerns and it may not be common knowledge at the office how that process was coded or how it works. It would be interesting to know. They've always been really helpful on the phone. Filtering can only be done a couple...

    frequency splitting

Don't know if anyone minds if I reopen this pup. Being new to 2.0 (I still like 1.2 better or know it better) I just opened the splitter up for the first time. Certainly not a new tool, this has been done in various ways for variuos reasons for years, but a cool tool. Here's a quick and simple...

    Punching In

Cool, glad you are punching away. The thing I love about CEP (is not the name) is the ability to program the hotkeys If you are in "punch mode" program alt+P to be punch in then your punce take a swipe of the mouse and a smack on the keyboard and you're there. I've got it set up so that I...

    Punching In

highlight the section you want to punch over and find the "punch" option, I think it's on the edit menu. You will see the rest of the track go green you can start recording any where for pre-roll and only the selected area will record. If you check the "allow for multiple takes" option you can...

How can I add blank space to recording if I've cut them off already?

This is one of my only beefs with CEP too, how can we get them do add a consolodate function.. hint, hint .........

How can I add blank space to recording if I've cut them off already?

If I understand what you are asking you could select the blocks you want to mix, make sure that tracks they are on are panned at 0 and vol at 0, then while they are still selected right click on an empty track and choose mix down selected wavs (either mono or stereo) The selected wavs will be...

    First Post: Ultimate Question!!!

It sounds like the only missing link you're talking about is the music and where it takes you technically. You have covered most of the basic tools and seem to understand them. The missing ingrediants are the music and your experience using your gear to acheive the results you want. You will...

question on deleting areas of silence....

Right, I often somehow end up with 40-50 tracks on a lot of songs that I do, not all on at the same time. I think mixing down is cool but what if you had 40 mixed down tracks each with dither.....If the dither transform results is checked then every time you eq, amplify........ I think I'm...

question on deleting areas of silence....

Copying seams safe, but there is dithering and other math involved in many processes. Of course nothing like the degradation of bouncing tape, but I have made the mistake of processing my tracks to death in CEP. Ya know, first you normalize, then eq maybe again, hard limit a bit to get the rms...

    editing 24 52 minute tracks

yeah man, thanks. That's prettty much what I ended up doing, except I used save selection as I needed to convert them to 32 bit 16.8 at the same time. Worked fine Now since I missed one overhead track for one song (grrrrr) I've got to open that massive session up one more time.. Oh well, one...

    editing 24 52 minute tracks

OK, my next project just came in on several DVDROM discs. I transfered them in to hard drive to find out that there are no song divisions. In other words, track one is kick for the entire record, track two is the snare for the entire record....... They are 52 minutes long, 24 bit 48k files...

question on deleting areas of silence....

If I understand correctly, you are trying to not just take the empty spaces between musical events off the multi track page, you want to eliminate them, not have the session carry them around, right? Try selecting the portion of the track you want to keep, splice it off from the rest of track...
