This might help someone...
Since I was last on this thread, a few positive things happened.
1. I got a new system.
2. I got the old system back up. Fully intact.
As it was impossible to get into the Recovery Console due to my lack of a password, I took my C: drive and slaved it on the wife's...
You're right about all those options, but I don't have the repair disks and it wouldn't let me reinstall. You really do sound like you've been there.
On the bright side, despite the C: drive having the registry error, all my files on that disk are intact. I have another HD that I will copy...
Good question. I don't have a good answer for that, except that that's gonna change;)
Some good news: the local clone shop took a look at my audio drive and it appears all data is intact. I just need to go get my latest files.
The reason I didn't have a decent backup strategy is that some of...
Sorry. I'm just frustrated. Thanks for trying.
I'm blaming myself for everything right now, so comments like "I think you changed something in your security options.:" just gave me another thing to beat on myself with. I know you didn't mean anything by it.
The other nail in the coffin is that...
Thanks, everybody. Here's a link describing repair of my exact problem...

It took me about a half hour and lots of hassle just to get to the point where I could get into the Recovery Console. I needed to go into the bios and tell it I...
I am hosed right now with my DAW.
I can't get it to boot up at all. As it gets ready to start Windows, I get an evil message(it's a wonder Bill hasn't been hunted down and used as a human shield - but I digress).
It says, and I've never seen this one before:
stop: c0000218 registry file...
I'm thinking of getting one now that I've upgraded to Sonar 2. Suposedly, there's a plugin and you're up and running.
However, given what you get for a grand (and this really has "obsolete in three years" written all over it), I'm thinking there are better, cheaper options.
I went with the J-Station because...
1. For bass DI, there were a couple of amp models.
2. Digital out instantly gave the spdif-in on my Delta-1010 usability.
3. Made by Harmon (who also makes the Genesis3) and who, when the EPROM on my RP-5 shit the bed, mailed me a replacement free.....three...
I would very much like to contribute and purchase. This website has been responsible for so many improvements in my setup and my overall development, I'd like to share what I can.
If you want mine, I'll throw in my 250mb Zip drive and some zip disks!:D Then you'll have enough left over for an AudioBuddy mic pre and a couple of mics!
That's the reason I started this thread. "If you were me..." I'm asking for people with real world experience with this stuff. Anyone posting with an ounce of ability should let their ears tell them. I don't care if Syteks or RNP's are powered by squirrels on treadmills. Based on my setup, level...
....not real drums. Guitars and bass direct to VS-880. Dynamic on vocs and pre-Mackie, as in "before I owned one". That's why I mentioned the first three tunes, but I appreciate your listening and your opinions.
Littledog,
Not that you opened the door, but any opportunity to drop by your place...
Ozraves,
These posts definitely have me thinking about the Sytek. Too bad I can't run out to Guitar Center and try one out;) ...
...As for my setup (and thanks BTW for listening):
All mics go to the Mackies and out the inserts to the 1010. I'm mixing, compressing and eqing entirely in Sonar...
Thanks guys. I've looked at all of these (except the Toft) as well as the ART Pro MPA and the Tampa. There seems to be a lot of negativity surrounding ART, and the Tampa is $100 more than the RNP for only one channel.
When guys talk about the RNP as being transparent (and I've read reviews...
