Next time a screamo band comes into the studio could you please just do us all a favor and shoot the singer?

Tape Op magazine just had an article on the studio that one of the guitarists owns out in Joshua National Park. It's just a dumpy house out in the middle of the desert.

Noise issues can be tough to pinoint. Does it still buzz when you listen on headphones with nothing but the guitar attached (not plugged into speakers or a recorder)?

Those are just synthesizers.

Try a gentle roll off starting at around 100hz then compress heavily with a slow attack and release.

Try some heavy limiting on the overheads. That will help even things out.

Create the buss channel right above the sub tracks. Then click on the folder icon to the right of the name. That will make the tracks below automatically send to that buss channel and not the master buss.

Consider using a shelving EQ with a gentler slope then a strict HPF. I like HPFs for getting rid of unwanted rumble or bleed but usually when trying to tame some boomy notes I'll go with a more gentle roll off.

The idea of recording drums in a room with a 6' ceiling would make me cringe. It might be okay, try clapping your hands in there and see what it sounds like. As a general rule I don't like recording drums in rooms with less then 10ft ceilings. I probably like a roomier sound then most but to...

What are you hoping to achieve? Sustain is either on or off and once you use up the polyphony of your keyboard or softsynth the notes will turn off even with the sustain pedal on.

I wouldn't high pass the bass. Just compress it or turn it down. Maybe a bit of bass roll off.

Computers are great for mixing but suck for tracking. I'll take a mixer and a 24 track recorder any day over a computer for reliability and ease of use.
