In my experience mixing OTB never would sound as good as ITB until I improved the quality of my converters. I used RME multiface, M-audio, RME fireface and could never get quality mixes OTB. Wasn't until I stepped up a level to Lucid and RME ADI that I could get my mixes sounding as good or...
Well to be honest they are my goto pre's on alot of things. And I also have a Langevin DVC, 4 re-built channels of pm1000, a Presonus 96k, DMP3, Rane MS-1, EH 12ay7. The AP-1's do well on almost anything, and I prefer the DI's on them especially. The tracks stack well with them.
That is more than a good deal. I have two of them and they get used quite a bit. Just check the input transformer. If it's a crimson you might want to call ADK and buy a Cinemag replacement for $75. The very early models came with the crimson's and then they switched to Cinemag. Worth the $75 to...
I have a Tascam 320B. I re-capped it totally and changed some of the opamps in a few channels. I really like this mixer a lot. Noise floor is just a bit more than what I'd like but not that it's a problem. It sounds really nice and doesn't get in the way at all, great for analog summing of mixes...
One thing to think about is that mixing outside the box requires xtra conversion which is directly related to the quality of your converters. Also more cabling which can become somewhat expensive for decent cables. I'd recommend staying ITB unless you have better than average conversion. Just...
I just played every guitar they had at my local guitar center in that price range. The only one I liked at all was a Martin. I think you need to play them yourself in order to find a good one. Sorry, but there's really no other way. I personally own a Larrivee D-3 all mahogony and a Takamine...
Hi Tom,
I'd like to send you something. Just a few questions. Must they be original compositions and what genre are you more interested in? Or doesn't it matter?
btw, I think I'm fairly local to you and would love to find out more about the classes you teach.
I don't know how this will work, you would have to do a sample first. But I know it works great for hard plastic like pickup covers. I used it on my EMG's and you couldn't scratch the paint off if you tried. Looks very, very good. I painted my cream colored EMG's black. It's vinyl auto spray...
My pre's are:
Langevin DVC - 2 channels
ADK AP-1 - 2 channels
Yamaha PM-1000 - 4 channels
Digimax 96k - 8 channels
Next looking to get either a Hamptone or Great River
Save up a few more hundred and get an 8 channel interface. Firepod, Tubefire8 or something along those lines. Then you'll have some room for expansion.
Make sure your line/mic switch is in the right position and that you have the orange l/r buttons in on the channels you are using. Also in the master section. And make sure the channels are turned on (green lights lit) Should get audio through the board.
Hey sweetbeats. Just thought I'd give you some food for thought here. Not the same board but I have a M320B that I totally re-capped and did the first eight channels with a combination of LM4562 and OPA2134. I kinda ran into the same issue of not wanting to overload the power supply so I never...
