    Is N-track a good program?

 n-track is my program of choice. It is highly affordable, and does all I need. I have used it to record live bands, with over 15 tracks recording at a time, and it performs flawlessly...now that some of the quirks have been worked out ;) . These being; finding an appropriate...

    how good is n-track?

Yep, i usually have at least 12 seperate tracks going at once when i do the live band thing, 1 mic for each guitar, kick drum(s), snare, overheads, bass, vocals, etc etc...

    how good is n-track?

 Bang or the buck, n-track can't be beat! It is not as stable as some of the big name programs out there, but everything has its flaws. It's not like n-tracks are without workarounds either, and Flavio (n-tracks creator) is always improving it. Right now there is a version 4 out, but...

    Delta 1010 with N-track

Works gravy  . I'm running n-track 3.3 with a 1010 and a 66. Just make sure you've got lots of ram and processing power, or you have to mess with buffers. I can't speak for the soundblaster card you have, but I did have a cheaper soundblaster at one point, the difference between it and...

    n-track sentiments,complaints,etc

I'm pretty confident of n-track's stability, so much so that I use it regularily in conjunction with my delta 1010 and delta 66 to record a band or two, with no problems. As stated, most issues are with drivers for hardware. Everytime I update my delta drivers I discover another new quirk...

    my first jam session!

Definitely. I think often people underestimate themselves as a player and all it takes is one or two jams to get them going, unless they are trully unknowledgeable about the instrument and/or tone deaf/rythmless. Chances are if they are good musicians, and they have heard you play before at...

How many guitarists know dots, Who's frustrated with those that don't?

It doesn't bother me so much if they know nothing of theory, but it really pisses me off when they don't wan't to take the time to learn something that will vastly help improve the group as a whole.

Johnson J-Station :: Favorite Bass Tones?

hmm, I never had as much luck in my limited time owning a bass with this unit, I ended up micing the amp. I guess I'm just chiming in to say don't be afraid to try the guitar models, cause for acoustic guitar, I actually use the rock bass selection, it seems to work best for me. :D

    Windows Volume Control?

Definately set your levels through your hardware mixer, not the windows mixer. If further problems persist come on back!

    Upgrading n-track??

The only time I ever have stability issues is when I'm working with plugin's, usually of the free variety. That is the ONLY time it ever crashes on me. I've only recently upgraded to 3.3, so far so good. One quirk...it doesn't stop at the end of the song anymore, it just keeps playing...

Stating the obvious, are you sure you are selecting the right card in the preferences? (In case more than one soundcard is installed in the computer)

Now I will speak for what I do own, a J-station. Coupled with a nice midi footboard, this thing is killer!

    ? for metal guitar players

I don't have one, but I really really want one, a Bigg Muff Pi distortion pedal. Made of metal and sounds plenty nice and crunchy :). Looky here. I think there are also some samples to listen to on that site.

    Favorite Bass Riffs

There's a few... Steve Digiorgio on The Death album Human, the little bass solo halfway through the instrumental Cosmic Sea. Cliff Burton, so many to list, so for now I'll just say Orion. Geezer Butler, NIB.

    Burnt out RAM?

Ya know, I did this with someone's computer not long ago, and for some reason it fucked things up quite royally, otherwise I would have done this already. Maybe it was just dumb luck, but call me paranoid now :D . I have the case opened up, and I can se that the tags on the sticks say 256 mb...

    Burnt out RAM?

hmm, it was a reputable store that sold and installed them for me actually, I forget which kind, but the good stuff :). For the life of me I can't remember if that thing ever read as '512 Mb of RAM'...Is there any way of self testing these things?
