i'm thinking of picking up a D160 (or D160v2) for use in my home studio. i realize that these units have 20-bit A/D converters. i was "thinking" of using a higher resolution A/D converter to send a signal to the digital input of the D160(v2)...which i know is switchable between ADAT and SPDIF...

there must be certain monitors which work BETTER for certain "genres" of music than others. i am sure there are monitors that are well suited for a 3-piece "guitar/bass/drums" punk band as well as monitors that are better suited for an EXTREMELY "bass-heavy" hip-hop group. maybe durability...

Akai doesn't advertise it,...but i've "heard" that the DPS16 is CAPABLE of 24-bit recording across ALL 16 tracks. at the price that these can be found for these days,..this seems pretty incredible. can any DPS16 users VERIFY this?? 16 tracks at 24bit/44.1kHz as well as 16 PHYSICAL faders and...

Blue, is the V8 your choice for most "accurate" studio monitor,..or the one that most "suits YOUR ears"??? Downside, what bass are you MISSING that an 8" nearfield woofer can't provide?? i'm certainly NOT being critical,..i'm just a bit curious.
