    SONAR w/ EZ Drummer

I had no problem installing it in S5SE on x64 and it survived an upgrade to S6SE. It actually works a *lot* better with the 6.2 patch. Before 6.2, if you loaded a project with EZ Drummer already in it, it wouldn't load the samples until you opened the EZ Drummer window, and then sometimes it...

Sonar: Is there a way to stop the tempo?

Record the metronome onto a track and cut it off where you want it.

    Quick Soft Syth Question

My I/O Buffer Size (Advanced Tab) is 256. My Buffers in Playback Queue (General Tab) is 4. My Buffer Size (Slider in General Tab) is 5.8 msec for an "Effective latency at 44kHz/stereo: 17.4msec" And yes, the delay between hitting a key and hearing the note is imperceptible. It is just like...

    A million dollars question

If you needed to be compatible with other studios that were running pro tools, then it might make sense to switch. Otherwise, I wouldn't worry about it. All the major applications do things a little differently, but they all have the same features.

    Quick Soft Syth Question

You need to lower your latency. Have you played with the "Buffer Size" slider in "Audio" under the "Options" menu? You want to set this as low as your computer can go (without dropouts) when tracking with softsynths. Mine is at 5.8ms.

    FX loop question. HELP !!!

I have a G-Major with parallel-loop Mesa. The "mix" on the Mesa is at 100% - so all of the signal goes through the loop. With that setting, you want the G-Major's "kill dry" off - because you want some dry signal to pass through the G-Major; otherwise, all you will hear is effects. Likewise...

    Cakewalk Bundle files in SONAR

I think "modern" bundle files have a .CWB extension, but I recently learned that if a project is using AudioSnap, you can't save as a bundle. So I would have to agree - copying the project folder would be a better way to do backups.

Sonar 6 and Virtual / Midi Drums?

I have EZDrummer, and it's excellent. You can drag-and-drop patterns (really good patterns) and then tweak them in Sonar. One thing to remember, no matter how good your samples are, if you don't program good patterns it won't sound real. Good drummers hit the drums at different velocities...

    SONAR 6 Audio Snap?

Yeah, I think that's what it's mostly used for - freeing up CPU resources by doing sort of a mini-mixdown. I've never run out of CPU either. But, for the high-quality audiosnap algorithms, it lets you get them into a project you're still working on without having to commit like you do with...

    SONAR 6 Audio Snap?

I wish I'd seen this thread a month ago. I spent the last couple weeks discovering the different rendering algorithms for myself. I would like to point out that you can Freeze a track and it will render it with the offline AS algorithm - I like this better than Bounce to Clip because I don't...

    ez drummer and sonar 4pe

Be sure you drag the MIDI clips into the MIDI track, not the audio track. I have made that mistake several times. Do you have drum maps? If not, there's a link on my blog to maps for the standard and cocktail kits.

    getting the right voice

Everyone is right about getting a voice teacher. I've spent ~$1000 on voice lessons and every penny was worth it. I'm still not a "strong" singer, but at least I *can* sing. That said, every singer on the radio has been treated with AutoTune. If that is the standard you want to achieve, you...

Do drums has to be always 1st?

If you get Sonar 6, you no longer have to play in time. You can fix it all in the mix. You can record the most off-rhythm mixed-tempo mess on your guitar and then sync the drums up perfectly! As amazing as that is, you will be a much better musician if you practice with the metronome.

    64 bit audio export

    Having more bits allows you greater precision in computation. Consider this operation on a 7-digit precision floating point system*: 1234.567 + 45.67844 = 1280.245 1280.245 + 0.0004 = 1280.245 However: 45.67844 + 0.0004 = 45.67884 45.67884 + 1234.567 = 1280.246 See how the confines of the...

    remote desktop audio

Sonar is not using windows to play the sounds... it is playing directly through the hardware. I don't think it's going to work with remote desktop.
