    Worst sounding Cd's ever

I am not complaining. I am just stating that they should just STFU because their music is simply NOT GOOD. Again refer to my Michael Schumacher comeback example. The guy is getting his ass handed to him by his teammate on every race this year. I am saying the guy is having difficulty racing...

Good point legion. Hadn't thought of it that way.

    side-chain and MBC.

More! http://www.izotope.com/products/audio/alloy/ "Sidechaining lets you trigger the Compressor or Gate from external sources– even to individual frequency bands in Multiband mode" Apparently, there are developers that don't think this is such a crazy idea. :)

    Release, Attack, Threshold.

Or break them down and each would make a title for a KMFDM song. Hell, they already have songs called "Release" and "Attack". Not sure about "Threshold" though :o :D

    side-chain and MBC.

A side-chainable dynamic EQ would work nicely as well. I am sleepy now. I'll be googling tomorrow :)

    side-chain and MBC.

Valid question Cancers. In a typical drums, bass, guitar, vocals mix I can see why someone would scratch their head if someone asked this question :) Not sure if that's the mindset you're coming from or not, but if you are, I totally get the WTF? reaction :D But for someone like me who does...

Does anyone know of a side-chainable multi-band compressor?

    Worst sounding Cd's ever

Some things evolve, and some things just wear out ;) Metallica and U2 are not in the "evolved" column in my book. Love Madonna or hate her, she has constantly evolved for example. Ministry. Completely shifted direction. And were awesome both at the beginning "experimental" stuff and later more...

    Worst sounding Cd's ever

They need to stop. Really. The guy can't sing anymore. Same thing with U2. Same thing with... name any band that was hot in the 80's. There are other ways to make money. It's like Michael Schumacher coming back to Formula1 after 3 years of silence and being out-raced by his teammate pretty...

    I hate reverb.

Well, that should clear it up then

    I hate reverb.

:D I like putting flanger on reverbs. Works fantabulously well on pads :spank:

    Compression/EQ plugs and memory efficiency.

BTW, just to clarify compression and EQ aren't really memory intensive, although some of them, especially some of the better "vintage" emulators can get pretty CPU hungry. Reverbs and delays on the other hand are memory intensive, and the longer times they allow, the more memory hungry they...

    Release, Attack, Threshold.

Just to expand on this. The reason this is true is because compression will make any ambience that has been recorded along with the sound more apparent, especially at fast attack settings. Also, along those same lines, if a sound has been recorded in a reverberant space, along with natural...

Yeah, I'd take really awesome headphones over crappy room acoustics any time :)

Struggling with getting good mixes :(

BTW, just wanted to add that you can create great mixes with softsynths, softsamplers, and sampled drums. If you couldn't, then well, none of the current electronica would be possible :)

    Worst sounding Cd's ever

I have a recording of Bach's St. Matthew Passions, conducted by Nikolaus Harnoncourt. In some arias and other solos there is a very pronounced clipping on the solo alto voice. Completely ruins an otherwise great performance. How it got passed the recording engineers, and how it was OK'd by...

    Favorite CDs?

Yeah, I understand the "comfort zone" thing... plus you've already spent the time to weed out the good stuff from the era you're most comfortable with... it's a chore to weed out the new good stuff, but it's worth it. I just spent $150 on CDs the other day from Ameoba Music. 2/3 of it is going...

    Favorite CDs?

Flaw "Through the Eyes". One of the more musical new(ish) heavy metal bands IMO. The guy knows how to sing for sure.
