Song for opinions, one of my favorites

Maybe the strum in D is a little "Margaritaville". Hey, I like Buffet, the guy can write a good tune.

Song for opinions, one of my favorites

Brilliant. Its called "Its over" I don't deserve any nice comments after that boo-boo

    Is this mix OK?

Agreed on the vox and hot drums. Not sure about the guitar. It could be the chorus effect that makes it sounds out of tune. It sounds ok to me, but thats not saying much.

    Is this mix OK?

I think I need a new bass. I keep getting the same comment about the muddiness of my mixes and I have a real problem making the bass sit distinctly in the mix without booming. I have a crappy old bass and that might be why.

    Is this mix OK?

I'm afraid this is as good as I can do sitting at home in a shitty apartment by myself. What do you guys think of the mix? Levels ok? Called "Its Over" http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists/album.php?aid=2716&alid=-1

    Track remix....Give it to me.

Maybe its my imagination, but the timing on the drums sounds off in parts. I don't require computer perfection but it seems really noticeable. Not sure where you are going with this. I think you need a cohesive idea for this one.

New Original that needs to be critiqued

Not sure if you want to critique the mix or the song. The song sounds ok, I like the guitar riff. The lyrics are not my bag so I won't comment. On the mix, I think it needs some work because the reverb sounds too heavy on the drums and keys, the tom toms come in out of nowhere, and the vocal...

Hey Lets all rip this new guy!

To me it sounds like a fairly commercial recording, apart from the vocals, which don't quite sit in there, as Blue Bear said. Maybe its over compressed and thin and sounds like its being played over a radio, and thats why it sounds commercial to me. All that being said, this is way over my...

    First original attempt

Very nice song. Seems like someone out there would want to record a tune like this. Synth only? I'm amazed. You really got a realistic guitar sound for the lead and rhythm parts. I might work on the march drum part. I like the idea a lot but the execution sounds a little unnatural. A real...

Thanks for the tip. I have tried several local studios and they are all digital for the most part. I'm still hunting.

Song for opinions, one of my favorites

This is an old song I just rerecorded and I've always been partial to it. I'd like to know what you guys think. It doesn't have a chorus, more like a refrain. Anyway, here it is. http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists/album.php?aid=2716&alid=-1

    Looking for critique

The song needs some sort of dynamicism to it. If you want to stick with the two (three) chord structure than you should at least modulate the intensity. An arc would be nice (soft, loud, louder, soft). Otherwise I'd throw in a brief chord or key change, but thats just me.

    Lyrical Poetry, Poetic Lyrics

I started on drums and moved to guitar when I was 16. Hard to say if it helped, though getting into a groove came naturally. Otherwise they are completely different skills. I switched because I wanted to do something "musical", with actual notes and chords. It turned out that my fingers...

    Analog tape help needed!

I have an old Ampex 456 1 inch tape recorded on a 16 track machine. It has demos on it and I need to dump it to some format I can listen to. It does not need to be mastered. Does anyone have or know of a machine that can do this?

    Is Prosody important?

We were just discussing this very thing in another thread, though I admit the word is new to me. I should say that I think it is THE most important thing about lyrics. Meaning is secondary to rhythm and texture. How come no one brought up Eminem? Lose Yourself is a study in prosody (as I...

    Lyrical Poetry, Poetic Lyrics

"If I can write lyrics that are a third as humorous and rhythmically perfect as their worst stuff...I'll be one happy dude" I agree completely.
