    how does WILCO do it?

try lightly compressing the vocal, then adding the reverb, then lightly compressing the track once more. that should allow you to turn the whole thing up without there being ridiculous reverb peaks.

    EQ paradox

I wish I remembered the name of it..... considering how much I use it, you think I'd know..... but I usually use this free directx multiband compressor..... although I occasionally use Cool Edit Pro's, since you can get very specific with the frequency range you want it to work on, although I...

    EQ paradox

well, there could've been so much at 60 hz to begin with, that if your high-pass is fairly gentle, a lot of 60 would still be there...... I just recently discovered the wonderful world of multiband compressors, and even more recently discovered how to use them.... :) if you have a multiband...

    how does WILCO do it?

pretty much the only recording thing I know about wilco is that the vocals are Tweedy up close and personal on an SM7. other than that, I know Yankee Hotel Foxtrot was mastered by a really good guy at a really good place....... sorry...... :(

    Louder! When Will It End?

and yes, I do believe it means "Idiotic Voter", although it might mean "Vote Idiot", depending on how the Portugese phrase their descriptions and subjects..... it's actually just kind of an obscure Radiohead reference that I've had for years, and kind of became my nickname.... I'm just so used...

    Compression presets...

this is exactly what I was getting at BB...... there is no reason for compression to have presets..... hell, I don't even make my OWN compression presets, as I would just be constantly modifying them anyways..... oh, and SD, you're welcome. :)

    Compression presets...

nah, you're right SD........ CEP's compression presets are totally whacked......... especially the "vocal" presets.... that vocal limiter is atrocious...... but to be fair, there's one thing I've never liked presets on, and that's compression..... out of all the effects, it seems compression is...
