    Demo mixing advice

I think the main problem is when you use the same mic for a lot of prominent things.... I.E. C1 for drum overhead, vox, AND all guitars.

    Demo mixing advice

Also keep in mind guys, that the songs we recorded over christmas (including this one) are in no way intended for release to anyone. We messed 'em all up real bad, so I'm not putting TOO much time into the mixing or anything.

    Demo mixing advice

thanks for the reply track rat. this is the response I seem to be getting overall: vox are getting lost, need more compression. guitar sounds good. Personally, I'm not entirely sure of the guitar sound. I think it mainly has to do with it being a bitch to get my amp to sound good at a decent...

    Demo mixing advice

sorry bruce, you have to go to discography. I was a little paranoid about the whole "deep linking" thing, but then I realized I was taking it a little too far. Here's the link: http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists/9/1392/singles.shtml it's called out to sea.

question for Alan regarding Joe Meek VC6Q and VC3Q "slope"

I say, slap that SM57 on up to the Champ's grille, plug it in the Meek, turn it on, turn it up, and PLAY!!!!!

    Demo mixing advice

hey guys, thanks a lot. as I said, this was just like a demo (and a pretty bad one at that) that we did over christmas cause we had just gotten a bunch of new toys and wanted to try them out... unfortunately, in our excitement we ended up cranking EVERYTHING and as a result, the drums and guitar...

    Demo mixing advice

Hello everyone. If you had the time, I would appreciate it if you guys went to www.nowhereradio.com/stereobrother and checked out my very, VERY rough mix of "out to sea". you guys might remember the original of that quite a while back, and over christmas we re-recorded it. Now, a few notes that...

question for Alan regarding Joe Meek VC6Q and VC3Q "slope"

By the way, Alan, is there any way I could get a cleaner picture of those VC6Q presets on the meek web page? They're all really fuzzy and I can't tell what the hell any of the knobs are at.

question for Alan regarding Joe Meek VC6Q and VC3Q "slope"

I think the VC3Q is preset at 4:1, so.....

    more headroom with 24 bit

I always figured the headroom thing with 24-bit was not that you could record louder, but that you could record softer and there would still be less quantization noise than if you were at 16. For example, if you were recording at a certain level in 16-bit so that you didn't end up using the...

    Beta 58 for live use?

It's the mic we use live, and it works amazingly well. I feel it sounds a ton better than a 58, in fact, we even used it on a few songs we recorded. if anything, we've had less feedback problems with it cause it's hypercardoid.. just don't eq the highs up too much, cause it's a bit more crisp...

This one was chosen to play on radio

I actually like this song a lot without bass. Like "When Doves Cry"! :D

    Marshall MXL 603, Rode NT3, or AT4041?

wait, if the nt3s are hypercardoid....... does that mean a pair of them with the sonusman (or was it mixerman?) drum technique won't get a good picture of the kit???? :(
