Glad I bought the V-AMP and not the POD.

Got one, love it! No noise on mine, you must be blasting the sucker, keep the volume at around 3/4 and you should be fine. I've heard horror stories about Behringer stuff, but so far I own a mixer a mic and the V-amp with their logo and had had no problems with any of them. Very satisfied...

    Gracias

    newbie doin' research

Mayberry, I'm also new at this stuff, and the first thing I looked at when I was doing my research was the sound card. I finally decided on the Echo MIA $199, which turns out to be a pretty nice card (two inputs/two outputs plus digital in/outs). I figured there was going to be a learning...

    $119 for a "box"?

This is one of the most versatile percusssion instruments I've come accross. Aside from the cymbals they can replace a set of drums in a small acoustic (unplugged) set up. I have seen it used in flamengo gigs as well as other types of music. The sounds range from very low (kick drum like) to...

Buying a new mic this weekend

Well, I'm glad nothing happened here. I mean this thread never happened, right? Glad to see Harvey back in full force and my apologies to Chessrock. Fine, I won't kill you or hate you for the rest of my life but I still think you deserve at least a kick in the nuts!!! Peace

Buying a new mic this weekend

Harvey, I just gotta tell you that whatever I have learned about microphones has been from reading this forum. There are many people whose opinions I respect an you're one of the best here, if not the best, and there are also some people that should stick their tongue in their ass before...

    CPU usage?

Powertracks, yes Powertracks 7.0. Heck! I'm new at this so I don't feel too embarrased. It works for now, but I'll check the manual for CPU usage. Thanks Gidge. I love the Alan thingy under your name...

    CPU usage?

I keep hearing that people use X percentage of their CPU power, for example while using plug-ins. Where do I look that up in my computer so I can see exactly how much CPU I have left for additional plug-ins before it crashes. I'm using Windows ME on an HP with a 733 celeron.

    Best Guitar for Total Beginner?

I will also go with Ibanez for the beginner. They are nice looking, and their necks are thinner than the Fenders or Gibsons. I would also suggest starting with .09 strings since they are the easiest to play if you don't have callouses, .08's may cut you if you play for too long at first. And...

Mic for recording nylon and steel string guitar

Mostly I use the nylon string for soloing, and occasionally for strumming. The steel string is mostly used for strumming and fingerpicking and the styles vary from jazz to flamengo and pop/rock. So far I have only used a SM57 with the steel string and for soloing with the nylon string and it...

Mic for recording nylon and steel string guitar

Any recommendations for mics under $400 that would be good in recording nylon string acoustic guitar (classical) and steel string as well?

    Cakewalk and Sr-16

I waited to see if anybody else followed on this thread to see how it should be done if you want to use the drum sounds from your sound card synths(soundfonts) instead of the sounds from the SR-16.
