what will I need to do to copyright my song?

It also takes a very long time. It was many months after I mailed the form in that I found out I made a small error filling it out. They were nice and let me refile, but I think it took about a year overall. Take Care

    Cakewalk folders?

Sonar makes a distinction between project audio files and wav files. For example, if you have a sound effect.... thunder for example as a wav file on you disk and you want to insert it, store that in your WAV folder. When you go to import WAV, that is the folder Sonar will open first to let...

    Not sure if MIDI question.

The acid loops will play from within Sonar. The wav files would be easiest to trigger if you get a software drum synth like DR008 from FXspansion or Battery or others. They you can load the sample into a virtual pad and trigger it with midi by entering notes in piano roll or entering notes...

    Alesis QS Expansion Cards

I have some which I use in the QS8. The rock card is funny.... there are actually some programming errors on it (I understand there are some errors on the World card also, which is why these two cards were pulled so quickly).... however most of the cards are okay. I leave the Orchestra and...

How large do PCM samples have to be to sound good?

I would let your ears be the judge. In general, if a "real" instruments is sampled more often (so each sample is transposed less) and at different velocities, it will sound more realistic and be larger. In the old days, a lot of companies did good work by a) editing their sample loop points...

Takes a licking, keeps on ticking

Kind of depends on what you are looking for. I use an Alesis QS8, mainly as a controller. The sounds are pretty "bread and butter" but will support other sounds okay in a mix. I think they are priced reasonably for an 88 key weighted action keyboard... and I like the action. Others don't...

    Sonic Charge Microtonic

Are you sequencing Microtonic from Sonar, or using the onboard Microtonic sequencer? If you are using Sonar's sequencer select the track containing midi data and the track containing Microtronic, then go up to Edit and do bounce to track... if you are "program challenged", just let it create a...

    Generic Rewire question

I have several programs that need to be inserted into Sonar via ReWire. Reason and P5 are both complex programs with lots of instruments etc. However, there is an option to insert the new v1.2 of DR008 as a rewire device. What is the advantage of using something as a rewire device instead...

    Problem(s) with DR008 1.2 and Sonar 3.1.1

A couple of questions/problems: 1) Every time I open DR008 1.2 in Sonar 3.1.1 the options box opens.... the options I selected last time all show (such a default folders to drum kits/wavs etc.) but it opens every time 2) (Okay...ignore this one.... found the fix..... reinstall the dr8dxi2.dll...

    Sonic Charge Microtonic

I tried it, but aside from the annoying "Please purchase the full version of Microtonic now" voice, I could never get the demo to record. When I bounced down the track, it was empty. So, first question, are you using the full or demo version? Take Care

    SF 6.0 doesn't playback in 24 bit

Okay, I think I solved the 24 bit playback, although I don't know exactly why. I used Frontier Designs and the Yamaha AW 4416 for 3 years or so with Win 2000. As I had to change the C drive anyway, I thought it was a good time to upgrade to XP. I was using the same settings in the Frontier...

    SF 6.0 doesn't playback in 24 bit

Only 16 bit? It says it opened the wav in 24 bit. It reports 32 bit internal processing and definitely saves 24 bit. As far as I can tell the problem is only in playback. Am I missing something? Thanks for the thought. Take Care

    SF 6.0 doesn't playback in 24 bit

Well, I can't remember what the install order was. I am pretty sure that Sonar came first. I did download from the mother ship and upgraded to 6.0e build 237, but no go. Runs fine at 16 bit, but pop, silence, error message when I try to play 24. Also upgraded Acid 4.0 (gee, I KNEW there was...

    SF 6.0 doesn't playback in 24 bit

Didn't know you could redownload it from Sony since they changed hands. Will check it out. In any event, SF was freshly installed.... as I had a new hard drive. Very puzzling. Thanks for the reply Take Care

    SF 6.0 doesn't playback in 24 bit

I just upgraded my system with a bigger C drive and went from Win 2000 to Win XP. After reinstalling everything, I noticed that when I went to play files in SF 6.0 there was silence for about 2 seconds, then a pop, then my digial mixer said "Wrong Word Clock Source" for about 6 more seconds...

    Yamaha FS1-R Problem

Good info.... bad news. It would seem like there is not a good way of tracking that down. When it was in the shop (about 1 1/2 years ago for about 3 months) they couldn't find anything and it was only one time that it crashed for them. Hmmmmmm Any suggestions? Thanks for your time Take Care
