why can't i choose my "mixer device" to be my line-in port. that's where i would plug my monitors into. (it only lets me choose my USB interface or the computer mic i bought a LONG time ago as the playback devices.) right now i have them plugged into my USB interface and that into a USB port...

being nice....it's probably a built-in effect on your amp. most of them do now-a-days. look for a knob to press. it might say "over-drive" or there might just be a gain button that you have to turn up. if not, then you'll have to go out and buy a distortion pedal.

i forgot to say....the mic is an MXL 990. (could've probably figured that out by the price). and i run with a little 6 channel mixer through my USB interface.

alright. i'm using a MXL large diaphragm (cheap, $70 mic) and i have a pop filter. i thought the pop filter would take care of such scratchie sound noises but it didn't work like i thought it would. i want it to sound more full and just more rounded. i've messed aroudn with the EQ in cool edit...
