What do guitarists use for drums?

I record my own drum kit, also use cutup loops that I sample from various places, midi sequenced drums, fruity loops any thing and everything. somtimes I bash out a beat on the drums then loop a section of that and then add some sample sounds using drumagog on a 2nd snare tracks that I will...

    Whats your favorite SOLO???

I reckon the solo on "gin soaked boy" on tom waits swordfish trombones would have to be some of the meanest blues filth guitar things ever recorded. I think a lot of people overlook Tom waits as a source of guitar Inspiration. Theres a always a couple of corker blues or rock things on his...

    amp recommendations for home recording

thanks dude-great idea. I have behringer truths and Rode Nt1 and a couple of those mxl603s as condensers-they may be OK. will try that out a.s.a.p. Good to know that its not only me that has experienced these difficulties-was starting to get worried there. When I bought the V-amp I just...

    amp recommendations for home recording

regarding the suggestions on the PoD and the digitech I have found that its really hard to get guitar tracks to sit nicely in a mix using the V-amp, which is similar to these. It can be done but I usually have to do a whole bunch of EQing and compressing and stuff which throws everything else...

    amp recommendations for home recording

I have a small studio under my house where there is a drum kit and 30 watt bass amp. For guitars I don,t have an amp and have used either a V-amp /and or the amplitube plugin. Never really been happy with the guitar sound I have been getting so far. Can someone recommend a good all rounder amp...

    hard drive question

I have removed a couple of drives from my computer and done a re-build on my system. When I try to re-install both appear to be formatted as "dynamic " drives. Windows XP home says that they will need to be formatted as "basic" .since I want to keep the data on these drives and be able to load...

Why should we use a preamp!!?

if you are using a powered condenser(commonly used with video recording/film) then you don't need a preamp. Or if you are just using a computer mic into a sound blaster then you don't need one. You DO need a preamp to boost the signal from most dynamic mics, to an acceptable level suitable for...

    Real drummer advice...

mate I was in the same boat as you. been playing guitar/bass/keyboard/harmonica (you name it) since the early 80s and got into the home recording thing a few years ago. realised immediately the same dilema . tried programming/loops but none if it really suited the style of music I do which is...

Anyone use the RNP to record Bass directly?

I tend to run bass in clean through dmp3 or other preamps and then play around with amplitube and a bit Eqing to get a a half decent bass sound in my mixes. RNP should be perfect in conjunction with amplitube or if you are looking for a clean sound and your bass pickups sound great.

drumagog users - how many channels do you get?

I have been able to run with 4 drumagog tracks but not really successfully. was putting one on kick and snare, then one on each overhead and playing around with ducking to try and extract drum and snare to just leave the cymbals. Not really possible to this (I don,t think) without getting any...

    Question for recording drummers.

I pretty much just add 12 seconds to the start of every recording as thats the time it takes to hit record, run into the next room, put the headphones on take a breath and start playing. As you can imagine I have also given this a bit of thought and reckon a cheap way to have remote is to just...

    Guillemot ISIS

Obviously the computer you are buying is running windows Me or earlier as the Isis only supports up to ME. You will be restricted to only using ME as Guillemot stopped supporting the card years ago. Also on the downside is that the card is only 18bit and has pretty poor latency figures (i think...

    Best Home Recording Software?

I been using cubase since 1996 so am biased towards that. have pretty much tried all the trial versions of all the above. Would have to say that I'm not a huge fan of SX though, as I don't hear much difference in the overall audio quality (really just too cheap to shell out for an upgrade :). so...
