    Unfinished Tune - Ideas, suggestions?

Thanks! Great suggestions... still a lot of work to do on this one. I appreciate your thoughtful comments.

    Unfinished Tune - Ideas, suggestions?

Keys?... There're no keys at all on this - The high-pitched tones at the beginning are natural harmonics played on the guitar... possibly complicating the tuning discepancies further...

    Unfinished Tune - Ideas, suggestions?

Don't think I'll ditch it - I quite like it, but I will reduce the depth. No, its not a fretless... & I have tuned it - proper like - with one of the electronic tuner thingies :D... but you're right, I noticed the intonation was a bit dodgy (not "a lot" though - a few cents off - I checked it...

    Unfinished Tune - Ideas, suggestions?

Thanks for listening & commenting...Not sure that if by "wah" you mean tremolo, but yeah, I agree - I think I'm going to take that effect off during the chorus. You're right about where the chorus is, so I suppose that's a good start... fair comment about the tune not "taking off" - any suggestions?

    Unfinished Tune - Ideas, suggestions?

Here's a tune called "Too Much" that I'm working on presently. No vocals or lead break as yet, but the vocals are all written & ready to go... Musically, its pretty basic, but the theme is somewhat harrowing (co-dependent relationships), so I'm trying to evoke a creepy, desperate atmosphere. Any...

    Allegorical Tale Invlolving Dissonant Funk

Thanks for the listen & kind comments. The hookline...Ahh... shades of "Alex The Seal" hey? (Our Lips Are Sealed) - could be my Aussie accent betraying me, too.

    Allegorical Tale Invlolving Dissonant Funk

I checked the link & it worked for me... hmmm... is you computer blocking popups? - try temporarily allowing them Thanks for listening & commenting. Wow! Thanks for the detailed critique - very comprehensive. I understand what you're saying about the overall harmonic structure of the tune...

    Allegorical Tale Invlolving Dissonant Funk

Hi again, this is a tune I recorded a little while ago... I'm quite happy with how it turned out, but I'm certainly open to any criticism. 320 kb/s here: http://www.4shared.com/audio/eNOd2ds5/_2__Snake_Oil_Salesman.html

Please Critique - Powerpop Rock Tune

I gotta say, I really enjoyed this... In addition to the above mentioned influences, I can hear a bit of Weezer, perhaps Fountains of Wayne? I pretty much loved everything about it - verses, chorus, lyrics - I've got to disagree with the comments about cliche'd lyrics. Cliche's can serve very...

    Please Critique

Wow! Superb job - Great songwriting, playing & vocals... What a difference a few extra sets of ears can make to an already well constructed tune... I'd still like to hear the drums punch a bit more... I always find, when I've reached the limit with what standard compression can accomplish, its...

    New song. Mix comments???

Yeah, this has a real "Life's Been Good" Joe Walsh vibe... a great song & arrangement - but I've got to agree with the above posts - Its not that it sounds bad, in fact its a great mix - its just not appropriate...It seems very "shiney" - could be too much top end - the drums have a real sheen...

New Poster with Tune for Your Critique

No, I don't think the bass during the verses interferes at all. It sets a groove. Although there is no cohesive loss between the verses and the chorus, the Looks like we've been playing "post tag", I just discovered your post... I haven't changed any of the actual arrangement, but I have...

False Paradise - SirN strikes again!

Wow! An epic! Mix is great & the vocals & guitar playing are outstanding. Two things I noticed - The drums are very quantized-sounding - a little bit too robotic for my taste (but they sound great). Also, as I'm listening on my studio monitors with sub, there is a little too much sub bass...

    Long Gone: Instrumental

This is great! Love your acoustic guitar sounds & the variety of textures - whew! you've really thrown the book at this one... Only criticism of the mix is that the electric guitar sounds a little muddy in the bottom end - outstanding playing, though! With the high quality of the rest of the...

I have a pair of these - great as drum/percussion overhead mics - & cheap as chips to boot. This is an example of a tune where I used them as drum kit & conga overhead mics: http://soundclick.com/share?songid=7604692

Bulldozer - Bigger, better, faster, more?

Thanks for listening & commenting, Squibble! The drum performance was recorded with a live drummer & a multi-miked drum kit, but due to his time constraints, we couldn't get a complete perfect take, so I ended up compromising & replaced everything with Addictive Drums samples... About 95% of...

Bulldozer - Bigger, better, faster, more?

Thanks for the kind comments... Glad you noticed (& liked) the lyrics! I have had some negative comments about them... Someone said they were too "Spock-like", which I guess translates to "too cerebral, not emotive enough" so, I dunno....My goal was to create a song that would encourage you...
