top 10 Answer to best Rap mic...

So is the verse of The Buggles' 1979 hit "Video Killed the Radio Star" (where the guy holds his nose while talking) rap as well :)

    Ringing EARS!

It's cool littledog, just I never felt so ... abandoned by the system, and going through such constant torment as well, because people just don't realise (yet!) how bad it can be. At least with physical pain there's morphine or heroine to numb the pain, with this I was just given a booklet...

    Ringing EARS!

I had severe tinnitus about 3 months ago, like the gates of hell had opened up in my right ear. Not just ringing tones, but explosion noises. I had no sleep for days, I was a mess. I phoned my boss and said I've no chance of working, never heard his reply. No help at all from national health...

Monitors? No Monitors? The Speakers That CAME with Your Computer?!!!

I use a pair of Fostex PM1's... In a different class to any 'Hifi' speaker I've bought, we tracked about a dozen guitar parts for a song recently (don't ask) but you could hear each one clearly and distinctly, the quality of the mixes blow me away everytime on these fellows. (Only problem is...

    Passive or Active?

 120db for the ears is like a couple bottles of scotch for the liver (tinnitus is probably one of the worst things you can have, and one of the most untreatable, still, you're only young once i guess  )

    Headphone Amp

I've had two ART headphone amps in the last month, and both give out noticeable noise when adjusting channel volumes. I exchanged the first one but kinda accepted the problem with this second one (lazyness really  ). I went for ART because of their splendid EQ with feedback detection...

    Passive or Active?

That's what I'm still a little confused about, my active speakers have a built in limiter (as well as thermal, DC fault and short circuit protection) so why did one smoke like a chimney? I know I was sending too hot a signal to the speakers as the clip lights on my mixer were...

    Passive or Active?

*takes a bow* :) i've had an incident where we had a sound check with active speakers and everything was perfect, but during our first song the guitar seemed a lot louder (someone stood on his floor pedals) ... as it was quite a fast and furious number and i was playing&singing, i didn't check...

    Passive or Active?

If an active speaker is driven too hard, starts to smoke and possibly catch fire... is it like a 1000 times more dangerous because it's plugged into the mains??

For those of you who rail incessantly on Behringer...

My first mixer was a Berry, I was happy with the sound, functions and price but channel1 died during a practice... I had the unit replaced but again channel1 died and this time during a gig :( I then had a bitch of a time getting my money back as the shop were only prepared to repair it, but I...

    PA needed!

In that price range I went for the new Wharfdale X series, big improvement on the previous models. Went a pair of active Subs, tops and monitors, more than happy. http://www.wharfedalepro.com/frames/loudspeaker.evp_xp.html

Anything better than a Beta 58 for rehearsals?

I've heard lots of bad things about 'auto-feedback killers'... so I bought a couple of ART HQ231...(Dual 31 Band Graphic EQ) When the system starts to feed back, the fader in question glows bright red and someone has to leg it to the box and turn that fader down a bit. You only have to do it 2...

Hows is your HD24 set up with analog boards?

Yep, I just use an analogue Peavey board with mine, using the 12 insert channels for recording and instant playback. Loadsa cables! Would also love a decent digital board which would only use a few neat ADAT cables... but a few grand just to simplify patching is a bit of an expensive luxury...

    DBX 166 XL Compressor poll

I was going to get the 166XL but my local store is doing a deal on the 266XL at £80/$140, half the price of the 166 and pretty much a give away Is it a good deal? Was wondering if someone could tell me the main differences between the two models, Cheers.

Midi controller box for a dumb keyboard?

Cheers, good advice :) (i was just doing a little search on midi pedals and found a Lake Butler Midi Mitigator here ) further investigation looks like the thing is almost 20 years old and the company has gone bust, but it's basically what i'm after! being able to program in set lists, a nice...

Midi controller box for a dumb keyboard?

cool... the full sized lightweight keyboard (12 lbs) / sound module idea is mainly to take the stress out of transporting my heavyweight A90 to and from practises... i will see how it goes before i add a dedicated controller as i'm still planning on taking my A90 to live gigs, because...

    Mixer for Alesis HD24 Recorder...

OK, I've been using the HD24 for a while now so I'll try and help... I'll answer your individual questions first... Correct, the HD24 shows you all the input levels from all the signals coming in, so once you're happy you're getting a strong enough signal you don't actually have to listen to...
