thanks guys =) My main questions were regarding EQ because I'm still very confused about the difference between plugins and ones that came with my DAW.
Also, I'm not very happy with the Reverbs that Cubase has on it - although I may not be using them properly (but that goes in another...
Sorry to ask the same question again - Especially since I've seen at least 2 "mastering" threads come up recently -
But does anyone use these programs to Mix? Or can they be useful for Eqing and dynamic inserts before mastering?
I keep reading how good T-Racks EQ is - but Can't tell if people...
thanks guys =)
I'm not interested in trying to master anything yet - I'm just trying to learn to make a nice sounding mix.
Are these inserts you would use to mix with?
Sorry for the incredibly hard to understand thread name - but it's keywords ;).
Really, I just want to learn to make a good mix before even trying to understand the mastering process - but I'm not understanding the difference between the EQ I'm using built in my DAW (Cubase 5) and ones that can...
found this link on another forum - but I think it's what your looking for.

My new room is HUGE - so I am planning on making one myself -
I've found a great use for Antares "Punch".
With my microphone I can barely get my vocals audible - so this VST is working very well for me right now =).
When I get a new microphone, I'm sure I'll still find another use for it eventually - but I really like it.
I'm curious about this question as well -
I've read a lot of people talk about mastering in cubase - which really makes me wonder what the benefits of wave lab are.
In Cubase 5 there is a mastering Preset Project, which I can't for the life of me understand what it does -
Which leads me to...
they're XLR-XLR
Really hoping it's the cables, gonna borrow my friends tomorrow.
I do plan on buying a large diaphragm condenser in the near future, but really can't afford it now.
I just want to be able to practice mixing some simple acoustic guitar/vocal and what not - but with this kind of...
yup, fast track pro.
Well, cranking the volume in cubase isn't gonna change what I recorded -
And for spekaers, I'm using just plain old computer speakers that came with my computer.
They're going through a converter that goes to dual RCA and plugged into the back of the fast track pro in...
sorry for the double post but I get what you're saying now. (thougth you wanted me to bring up a screen)
Using a Shurec608 (but same results with a crapper 30 dollar mic)
going through a fastrack pro to USB.
Goes to Cubase 5, and now with the fast track pro, I have my speakers going through...
not sure exactly how to do that.
Really think so? I'm so hoping it's my cables, because both my microphones have the same issue.
And on the old Alesis interface, we were using my friends condenser mics with the same problem. (although we were using the same cables)
Any help is extremely...
thanks so much for the warm welcome guys! Really like it here,
So... deal is - Been using the Alesis multimix (if you guys have read my other thread) and the only way to get a signal was to crank the gain, main level, and channel level all the way up.
Well, turns out it might not be the mixer...
cubase.
News - I got it working,
Had to go buy a converter thing, but it didn't have a female end so I also had to buy a "couplet"
But I have to say - just from playing some VST instruments
The sound blew me away! so awesome, is there any way to use this thing for all sounds on my computer?
I like the quick launch idea, but there's no where to click and change the card.
It's either, Fast Track - and if I unplug it and restart it goes back to SB Live!
No option to change it =(.
So, Got my fast track pro - but now I don't have any sound through my computer =0
I'm under the impression I need to buy one of these
http://www.fullcompass.com/product/282357.html
and connect my speakers through the interface itself.
Until then, is there a way I can still run sound through...
