I just bought a presonus Bluetube DP

I'm curious too, i've always like them but I figure I should have a matched pair of overheads first.

    *Wanted* D112 mic clip

I bought a D112 used and I'm missing the proper clip. Anyone know where I could order one? I figured a small condenser clip would work but when I mention it in the store they just give me a funny look.

    Zoom H4 for christmas...

I just unwrapped a Zoom H4 this morning to my delight. I've been looking for something to demo the weekly band practices as well as live shows. I've tried the built in mics and directly recorded some DI acoustic testing the included effects. I'm impressed. This thing's gonna get alot of...

    New Imacs For Recording?

I've been recently considering a 20" Imac to replace my old G4. I'm looking to run either Project mix or Digi 002 interface with an aditional adat 8ch pre. My main focus is full band recorded audio (not midi) is there anyone that's running a setup like this and has pushed this Mac too far?

    tube combo opinions

I've tested a traynor tube combo, not sure of the model but it was a 2/12. And I was quite impressed, it had a sharp chimelike mid when clean and still maintained that sweet moan when overdriven. It screamed tube quality yet still had a strong presence that would stand up well when recorded...

Damage Control Demonizer noise gate question

If its a hiss that's only present when the dist is on then a gate will work just fine. It'll just mute the signal when your not playing. You could try the gate before the preamp and that will achive the tightest gate effect as long as the noise isn't coming from the preamp by itself.

    Boomers Or Slinkys

I personally like slinky's better for tonal quality but I need the goofy Zakk Wylde string gauges. No one else will give you such a fat e-string and still give you a plain g-string. It's hard to pinch and quickly bend a wound 24 g string.

    best distortion pedal for recording

I spend all kinds of coin on tubes and such tweaking my 120watt tube head and getting the right tone. Then while recording I tracked one song with a $25 DOD grunge pedal and it blew everyone's minds. They want me to do the whole project like that. :D

When can one call themselves a guitar player?

Your a guitar player when your with your pals and they're like "I seen this sweet peice of ass downtown this afternoon", and your like "I seen this sweet ass peice of wood on ebay..."

    Zero Headroom In The Box?!

Ok, a strong vocal part makes it harder to decern what the snare is doing. Guitar parts carved into different freq. and stereo space still fight for space in the mix. That's the kind of "headroom" I'm talking about, not the math, the audio. If no one here has had to deal with this before maybe...

    7-string or baritone?

If your a bass player and you sometimes play guitar than I'd get a baritone. The scale difference won't be much of a challenge if your already used to that sort of thing. My opinion of 7stringers originally was that a guitar player could play that low with out having a different scaled neck in...

    Who Destroyed Metal?

I had to vote Korn out of the choices posted. There was modern metal...Pantera, White Zombie, Helmet, Prong, etc. Then Korn reared it into numetal jock shit and it slowly swallowed itself. Ruined it for everyone. Thanks.

    Quitting

Quite often, my expectations are so high and soo much work goes into producing something that will at best be deemed as sounding "standard". Then on a very very rare occasion someone "with ears" will hear something I did that I'm not too proud of and totally love it. This is what I do, this is...

    Zero Headroom In The Box?!

I'm talking about the sound of the finished mix, not ones and zeros. I'm working with heavy rock, buy the time your done giving everything it's own individual space and strength in the mix there doesn't seem to be anything left. One thing I think might contribute to this is the final mixdown...

    Zero Headroom In The Box?!

I'm using Cubase 5.2 VST on a Mac with a Delta 1010lt card with some decent monitors. I've been at it for a couple years, now I have learned alot about getting a better signal and whatever. My mixes end up with way less headroom than everything "redbook" I compare it to. I'm recording at...

    New Tool Album

Are they ripping someone off? Are they trying to sound like someone else because their label thinks it'll sell? Tool has been doing their own thing for quite some time and thousands of bands have fed off them. I myself am pretty jaded and I'll openly admit, they made a good album.

Hows is your HD24 set up with analog boards?

There's a Toft audio board that's got adat I/O right around the corner. It might be out now, I'm not sure. That would save on your cabling. There's also a mackie solution, DB25 connectors, I think the Onyx1604 has two DB25's for direct out. Just a suggestion. ;)
