Ahh, I see.
I have been keeping it on the correct +4dB setting, I'm glad to know that its pretty much impossible for me to exceed the monitors maximum of +6dBV unless I actually managed to exceed my interfaces maximum setting.
Anyway, usually just past halfway is well enough, 3/4's is loud...
Keith.Rogers, Sorry to sound dense, but I'm not fully clear on what this means exactly. I have the monitors set to the correct +4dBu setting now. Does 10dBu=0dBFS then?
I did state I heard the same noise in my headphones, yes.
I use a few different forums, and get a bit confused which one I have replied to. I'm brain damaged and this has impacted my memory, so quite often I get confused with things like this.
I thought I could hear the sounds on the...
Thank you all for the helpful replies, and putting up with my questions.
I tend to worry quite a lot, I find things more confusing than most people due to what happened and how my thought process now works. I do apologise if my questions ever seem silly.
I do need room treatment, that is...
Mickster, at +4dB they only pop when I max out my interface output, and have the monitors above 7 and a half. Below this, they don't seem to do it with that track.
I must say, it is ONLY that track that does it. I asked someone else to listen with their monitors, and they said the couldn't...
Thank you all for the help and replies.
ECC83, I'm not really worried exactly, more that I wanted to ensure I had set everything up the best I possibly could. I read a few articles, this one mainly was the reason I was asking Why You Should Calibrate Your Studio Speakers : Ask.Audio
I set...
Thank you for the help, I now know a lot more about SPL meters than I ever thought I would lol.
Now, with the apps I have tried (I have tried 10) most seem to be consistent, a few DB apart, while 3 are much higher. I'm not sure which to go with, as I don't want to be damaging my ears thinking...
Ahh, I see. That makes sense, and I do get the feeling they are not making things simple for me.
I found the box for the Scarlett, and the manual. Guess what? It says +4dBV! Seeing as I am using them for monitoring, and not to wake the neighbours, I will keep them on that setting.
I haven't...
Ok, I've spoken to Focusrite on the phone, I double checked and there was an error in their manual which stated balanced connections were +10dBU!
It isn't, the correct setting is -10dBV. +4 won't cause any harm, but will be much quieter. I phoned them to clarify things, they was very helpful.
Thank you, I had a feeling what he was saying might not have been true, and he was saying it to seem like he knew what he was talking about. I come across people like this all the time giving wrong information- I collect vaporisers, and used to review them direct from China. The things I have...
Hello, I received my first set of studio monitors this morning, the JBL LSR305's and am loving them.
However, I have a question, which I need to know before I change anything incase I damage the speakers.
There is a setting for +4DbU, or -10DbV. -10DbV is much louder than +4, I only have to...
I have given myself a good slap.
Turns out it was the track- I listened with headphones, and sure enough at the time in the song I heard the pops, there it was in my headphones. It wasn't as loud, but it was there.
These are my first ever set of monitor speakers, and I knew they showed the...
OK, I am using a 15", 2013 MacBook Pro, with a Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 interface.
I am using TRS to XLR cables to connect the interface to the speakers.
I tried using my old 2010 MacBook Pro with the same song- and there was no popping sound! This is a big problem, as I bought my 2013 MBP as...
Hello, today I became the proud new owner of some JBL LSR305's. I am very happy, apart from one thing.
When I turn the volume up to past conversation levels, sometimes there will be a big loud "Pop" or "Click", but the music carries on playing.
Is this clipping, or something else? I have...
Hello everyone, I have recently got into production, and am in the process of converting a room into a dedicated studio.
Money is tight for me- I'm recovering from a serious illness so am not working, and doing this is to pass the time, and also so I have learnt something worthwhile I can...
Hi everyone, I have acquired everything I need for my home studio, apart from my main monitors. I'm currently using HD 25 I-II's and M50X's.
I've heard good things about the JBL LSR range, and as I am on a tight budget these fit my price range (I am recovering form a serious illness, so am not...
I've just took the measurements, it is 14 feet from the wall to the window, then 11 feet from the headboard side to the other wall, and the height is 8 feet and 6.7 Inches.
So 14Ftx 11Ft X 8 Ft 6.7 inches.
Im glad the window shouldn't be a big issue, and my family will be even happier that I...
Thank you for your help.
It did seem the first room would be the best option, but I was worried about the window. I just need to find somewhere for the bed (it's a hospital bed we bought, but he never made it out of hospital to use) and then can get going.
I live down a fairly quiet road...
Hi everyone, I have a problem in regards which room to use as my home studio.
Now, the first room seems the most logical. It was my grandfathers, but he sadly passed away last August. I can remove everything from this room, and turn it into my studio. There is space for a desk, enough room...
Hello, I managed to get myself a vintage SM58, sometime from the 60's-early 80's in perfect cosmetic condition. It is dual impedance, has a second wire inside so you can wire it for 50 or 150 Ohms, Shure stopped this on newer models.
Onto the problem. There was a obvious issue, as a wire...
