If there are specific things you dislike, then you will have a better idea of what type of response graph you're looking for.
Most of those response graphs are smoothed out approximations.
What software were you using to record before? And what were you using that one time that you used a pre-programmed drum beat?
There is lots of software that contains MIDI sequencers, some of it will cost some coin, some less so. There is a Cakewalk specific forum on here if you want to know...

I've never used a 2035, but I own a PG81 and I can tell you it's not that great. Go with the AT2035's.
