Just got my firebox today (hooray) and I'm encountering a slight problem. The only time I can get sound out of it is when the "Mix to Phones" (the zero latency monitoring) is enabled. I just tried to test with a guitar plugged in direct to the mic/instrument input 1. I tried with Amplitube...

I can't play guitar without a pick, but I can't use one when I play bass. Most of what I play the bass for requires smoothness, and speed is never an issue.

The e609 is only $10 more, fwiw. Personally, I've had little experience with micing an actual amp, but the few times I've done so, the 609 has been pretty foolproof. I'm looking into a cheap ribbon to compliment it (at distance).

I'm pretty sure (not totally though) that the 400f is DICE II, which makes my choice automatically the firebox.

+1...I suffer from multiple problems on this list. I chose slow fretting hand, but I need to learn more theory and speed up my pick hand too. So basically, that about covers everything guitar related, doesn't it?

Reaper licensing is good through the next version after you buy it. So if you bought a license with 2.5, you're covered up to 3.99. If you buy a license with 3.0, you're covered through 4.99 (and man do I hope they keep releasing it that long!!!)

I'll second Reaper. It's pretty simple to use, especially if you don't need to get too far in depth. Plus, like legionserial said...it's dirt cheap.

It might take a bit of doing, but they're certainly the same size. You might have to drill a few holes to match up with the new pickguard, but other than that, I think they're the same thing. **Note...I don't own a strat (though I do plan on getting one soon), so take this with a shaker of salt**
