One song per project or more?

When doing tracking, do you make a new project for each new song? I use Reaper, and was also wondering if it would be faster....I have always done all songs in one project per session. What do you do?

How many overheads do you use?

It sounds terrible so far compared to the stuff I've heard here. My last recording was just a single overhead and kick, so I'm starting to think about my band's recording this summer. I don't like the idea of a snare mic without tom mics, since it seems counterintuitive in terms of preferred...

How many overheads do you use?

I get my attack from the overheads, and supporting tone and stereo image from dynamic close micing.

Cracked diaphragm MXL 604...xp w/ warranty?

Still sounds good in a quick recording, but haven't had time to do extensive testing. Something tells me this would effect the high end or some subtle effect? A friend told me he used it on vox and noticed distortion, wondering if I should ask for help shipping... Any one have experience with...

    attack drumheads?

I tried their non Bozzio heads and found they lost their resonance quickly, even more so than Remos. Evans I've found to be warm and modern sounding, Aquarians long lasting...\haven't tried the Bozzio attack heads.

How many overheads do you use?

I don't like the idea of using more than one, but on my last recording, my wuhan china was a rabid monster and I'm wondering how to fix that (I fixed it by....playing softer...like how you should ). Here's a big STUFF YOU to the drummer that stole my 22" wuhan china - that was much...

    Physical limits of drummers?

I'm not a great drummer by any means, but I think doing something like that is within the range of where a standard drummer's chops should be. I like to think that 200bpm is a standard target for single stroke roll, more for double (not buzz). http://www.metronomeonline.com/ To clarify...

    Dead art MPA or computer?

Here's a pic of what the audio looks like. It's stuttery with digital distortion. I wonder if it was a buffer size problem...

    turn off all fx?

Is there a shortcut to turn off all tracks' effects with one click? I've done this before, but don't remember how I did it.

    Dead art MPA or computer?

Thanks. Checked the cables already, am looking forward to being able to test the preamp alone later this week. It's all a fresh install. It also sounded like it could be software - sounded almost like playing a 48khz sample rate on a 44.1 project.

    Dead art MPA or computer?

Here's the quick run down: I was recording (and....overdriving) my Art MPA Gold for 3 days, and while doing vocal tracks got sporadic major digital sounding distortion on playback only, and my guitarist claimed to feel a hot mic cable that was running through the right channel of the MPA (I...

What to trust...monitors or consumer speakers?

Or possibly if you're so used to pop style mixing bringing out the vocals too much, you could be mixing them that way on the monitors and then the level gets even higher on consumer speakers (some do this while others do the opposite and boost both ends of the spectrum). ie a solution could...

How high do you tune your drums?

I'm looking for maximum response throughout the dynamic range, and as little 'honk' as possible from non center snare hits.

How high do you tune your drums?

I did notice that my batter detunes far quicker than any other drum on the set.

How high do you tune your drums?

Especially the snare...I just recently removed the plastic washers and replaced with metal ones...I noticed that on all the tuning how to's online it was too tight for the plastic washers to work. I tightened up both sides and now am getting the best sound I ever have, which the snares...
