    Electric Guitar quesdion

Nah, you don't need an amp! If your car stereo has a tape player, get a 1/4"->1/8" adapter and one of those cassette adapters for iPods/mp3 players. Then you can play your guitar through your car stereo. Much cheaper than a big tube amp like a Marshall or Fender. And it should sound almost as...

    Baritones! [shouting]

I played a Santa Cruz Brozman Baritone in Sitka and Koa at Acoustic Roots in Philly. I sounded so good it almost made me weep! It was tuned down to C, and sounded great for fingerstyle/picking as well as strumming (the strumming almost made the walls shake!) Unfortunately, it was $4000 :(

Good mixer? and should i buy 1 or 2 monitors?

 Yep, better toss out my Tannoy Reveals, I mean I don't need to hear what I'm mixing, I just push the faders up until my wave is a big rectangle :D

    Delta 44 Audio Samples ??

All the stuff on my website (http://www.evangordon.com/sounds.php) was recorded through the Delta 44. No distorted guitars, just mellow acoustic stuff. I mostly used a Soundelux U97 and Neumann KM184 into a Great River MP2 preamp. I've been very happy with the Delta 44, been running it since 2000!

Grabbing Audio tracks from DVD ?

There are DVD-audio ripping programs available, but I believe they are shareware (ie not freeware). I used Audacity to record a DVD concert playing in realtime on my laptop. I had to make sure nothing was running on the laptop so I wouldn't get any stuttering or random Windows beeps/etc... (I...

Aardvark 24/96 (and can it be used on notebook?)

They make them, but they are very expensive! http://sewelldirect.com/pcmcia-to-pci-1-slot.asp Almost a grand! Not very cost effective if all you want to do is stick your PCI Soundcard into your laptop. :D

    Zipping audio files?

For those interested in the theory of losslessly compressing PCM data - http://www.monkeysaudio.com/theory.html goes into the basics. For those folks who use WinZip, at least give Monkey a try! You should be able to get much smaller files. And then you could bundle the project using...

    Lexicon MPX550 Help

Why are you plugging your microphone directly into the Lexicon? I looked at the webpage for the processor, and it appears to only have line-level inputs (it doesn't mention anything about microphone preamps). Microphones are much lower level than line level. Plug your microphone into the PA and...

    MAudio Delta 66

Yeah, more details are needed! What are you playing back that only plays in the left channel? What are you plugging the outputs into? The M-Audio mixer/control panel can be a bit confusing at first. I have the Delta 44 (same as 66 but no SP/DIF) and it has been chugging away since 2000! Still...

    Pointers?

HaHa! That was the first thought that popped into my head! I hate Pointers! I'm much more comfortable in Java. This week I'm debugging a JNI interface on HP-UX - blech!

    the iBroke

HaHa!!!!! I remember the walkman fondly :-) At least it's a good collection of music! I'm actually listening to Neil Young now on my poor man's iPod (a Creative Zen xTra 40GB) - His version of Helpless with The Band on the Last Waltz album.

    24/96 - 16/44.1 how?

uh, changing the file extension will not change the file from a wav to an mp3. All this would do is change the name of the file.

plugging mic to delta 44 box.

    reverb bus???

Assuming you can put the effects on a bus which is NOT sent to the PC via USB, then you should be able to put reverb on the monitor mix while tracking vocals. Try it and see if it works :)

    reverb bus???

Buy a nanoverb for cheap, patch it into your mixer (using an aux bus), make sure that the aux bus doesn't go to the PC, but does go into the headphone mix while tracking. Problem solved!

    Chord help

This is pretty easy - Just play a Bm with a barre on the 2nd fet (so it's an Am form). You only need to barre strings 1-5 so you're fingertip of your index finger can be on the 5th string. Now to get to Bm/A, just lift up your index finger off of the fifth string. You probably won't have time to...
