    Fostes Mr8 Recording Question Please!

I'd seriously consider something else. The MR8 has limited memory capacity. How long are your interviews? What sort of quality do you want to end up with? Are you going to publish the sound in any way? eg release a CD etc.? I dont believe you'd need to "mix" people separately. As long as...

which computer program to use with the mr8?

lots of folks here and at other forums recommend N-Tracks, it's cheap and seems to work great! www.fasoft.com Personally I use ACID, but it's a lot more expensive than N-Tracks. www.sonicfoundry.com You could also look into Cakewalk products, I find their software quite easy to use...

if you want to mix your vf80 "tracks" on the pc, the only way to go is to buy the internal CDRW and burn off the tracks as wav files, then transfer on cd to computer. T

new boy with vf80 how to connect to pc?

depends what you want to do....do you want to mix the audio files (individual tracks) on the PC? for this...I'm assuming you want to mix on the VF80 and transfer a stereo wav file to the PC. if you dont have the cdrw then you can only connect via the SPDIF output, which means you have to have...

VF-16 - NO DRIVE / NO DISK Message - Help!

uh oh...... I remember getting this message once with my VF80. I unscrewed the housing to the drive bay and checked the bus cable and how the drive was mounted. The wriggling must have fixed it because I've not had the message since! You're not the only one who has reported this issue. Tube

    Real Drums

are these the drum loop CDs made for the VF80 and VF160? If so, I have used them and they arent too bad. It's a pretty difficult job cutting and pasting verses and choruses around. The CDs need to come with the songs mapped out in bars and beats. Only problem is, you cant stretch time, so...

    n tracks and vf80 help

I use my VF80 quite effectively with my laptop (Toshiba Satellite Pro) using the method Garry described as option (i). The vf80 sucks at mixing IMHO...6 tracks at a time? It works well as a recording unit though, and the CD burner is spot on for burning all 24 tracks as wav files to transfer...

Connecting VF-16 to computer and burning CDs with PC

'course you could just forget all about it and buy a new VF160.... ;) SCSI CD drives were damn expensive last time I looked, but like everything, that could change in a month or two. Compare what you would have to pay to get the vf16 and a SCSI CD drive with a new VF160! T

Connecting VF-16 to computer and burning CDs with PC

I have a friend who bought a SCSI Jaz drive....you connect to your VF16 and save your tracks as "wav" files. You then need a SCSI card for your PC. You take the Jaz drive and connect to your PC, and upload the wav files into your music editing software. Mix down to stereo and burn CDs from...

I need help with my computer set up

does your VF80 have the CDRW built in? If so, then it's easy! Just go to the manual to the save program page, and save your program as .wav files onto a CDRW. Take that over to your computer, and simply load the wavs into your music program. If you havent got the CDRW....well, then it gets...

    copression

Yes! get one. Outboard compressors can impart a lot of magic if used correctly, and they are of good quality. Vocals, Acoustic, Drums, Bass can all benefit. Try and get one with a built in limiter too, especially if you do a lot of solo recording. Tube

doesnt it sync automatically if you use a SPDIF interface? ie no need for a MIDI cable..... I know that RME make some of the best soundcards available. However, there is a cheap solution using a USB interface.... the EDIROL UA1D http://www.edirol.com/products/info/ua1d.html Tube

    VF 160 Inputs

yep, you can do it that way but you might have problems with level. you are better off getting some mic preamps to go with your vf160 so that the mic signals can be converted into line level signals with a 1/4" plug Tube
