I have an MBOX with focus rite pre's I'm considering getting this cheap presonus tubepre. how would it compare to just sticking with my mbox's pres? is it worth the money? i'm recording mostly guitars and vocals.

i understand what you're saying, i'm talking about that distorted sound, is that because signals are getting boosted higher than they are meant to go? if so, what sort of things should i be doing to fix that - shoudl i deal with it at the mastering level or the mixing level?

Hi everyone I used this plug-in to get the volumes right on some songs, and while the output level was set for -.2 db or something, but for some reason, i still hear some audio clipping. is that normal? am i perhaps misusing this tool? shouldn't setting a max of -.2 prevent clipping?

I'm trying to use my MBOX (digidesign) to playback regular sound files (through windows media player, for example). I have the wavedriver installed but when I go into control panel sounds and audio devices, the MBOX doesn't appear as a choice to select as a device that can be used for audio...

what kind of reverb/compression/other effects should i consider on a stereo mixdown of a song to tie the whole track together...i'm especially interested in what you guys have to say about the reverb - i want to the stereo mix to sound cohesive but not too reverb-ish. any suggestions? thanks

Hi I have a drum loop at the end of my song that I want to gradually become slower and for the pitch to gradually become lower. How do I do this in Cubase SX (version 2.something) thanks!

if i understood you correctly, then you may want to try simply shutting off your computer monitor - if you play guitar near one, you get some buzz and using guitar rig with any distortion or any effect really will magnify the buzz.

thanks thanks for the suggestions - i've gone with the re-tracking option and found a better and smoother sound and that solved all my problems.

Hey - I'm mixing a track and the electric guitar that I recorded has come out quite harsh - too much metal. How can I take the edge of the sound? I already EQ'ed some of the highs out to soften it. Any suggestions?

I'm recording a guitarist who plays with a lot of finger picking and "slaps" the strings a lot on downbeats (a la john mayer). How can i reduce their harshness or volume in the mix? Thanks
