One more thing, I'm getting errors from my CD drive like "drive has a bad block" and something called a DCOM error. I think my CD drive has gone bad...could it be possible that when i installed winXP some of the files did not transfer correctly and that is causing the crashes and reboots...

yea that would be a very fast system...I would recommend going with an athlon 64 chip, but this isn't about amd versus intel. The third hard drive seems overkill to me if you're just laying beats with vocals over them, but thats just me. It doesn't sound like you're doing multiple track...
