Attention Drummers! I'm cleaning out the cymbal bags and am letting go of some lovely cymbals...
I thought I would put this out for the community for a week before these items go to the 'bay. With no seller fees, I can offer you fine folks a lower price than if they go to auction.
I have...
Tony,
Welcome to the boards! Could you perhaps show a screen shot of your problem?
Your workflow should look something like: Track -> Add Track -> Select "Software Instrument" -> Ok -> Then set your instrument settings for the channel.
The EXS24 instruments aren't really plugins; they're...
In that range, if you want to stick with usb 2.0, you might also check out the Avid/M -Audio Fast Track Ultra 8R. 8 mic pre's and Midi for around $350.
I agree with witzendoz above, but as you mentioned that you can only run two channels, I would endorse the first suggestion: use the matched pair above and in front of the kit and experiment. Track 30 seconds or so with a variety of mic locations (mark the stand locations with tape on the floor...
If someone has given you the feedback that you need to give the tracks more "feel", then it's likely a performance issue and not a technical one. They're trying to get you to put more life into the performance, not change the mix.
My $0.02
If you'd like feedback from the forum on the mix or...
I'm in the planning stages of my new recording space in the new house (well, actually we moved last July, but I'm taking my time to do it right). One finish element that I want to incorporate is to run most of the audio cable through the walls/ceiling and connect to wall jacks at certain points...
Opinions will vary, however my favorite method for acoustic & classical guitar is to use one LDC and one SDC panned in stereo. I've used the LDC just beyond the sound hole 20-25cm from the guitar and the SDC at the 12th fret pointed to the spot where the neck and body meet. The SDC gives me...
Very nice, man. So often overlooked is the color... The dark stains that you used, along with the dark fabric on the traps, gives that sort of "zen den" feel. I would imagine some very cool, laid back recordings coming from this room!
Very well done. Nice look, nice setup.
I just meant that you wouldn't want to use one of the little cheap converter boxes for the rack gear return -- assuming you want to run the return to your S/PDIF input on the Tascam and pick up two extra channels. You can use a cheapo box to turn S/PDIF into analog (to get it out of the Tascam...
I would suggest that you head down to your local music store and try the ones you're looking at. If some of the recent mic shootouts on this board have taught us anything, it's that sometimes the mic you least expect to be your top pick ends up being the best compliment to your voice.
Case...
Yeah - that little box will work. You can run the return to a pair of inputs on the Tascam. Since you'll be printing the return to a recorded track, you can correct any latency issues by shifting the track up a few m/s as JSG points out above.
If you want to expand the inputs on the Tascam by...
Yes and yes. I just looked up the US800 manual, and the digital (s/pdif) output is buss 3/4. The digital input is channels 7/8.
You'll need something to convert the s/pdif to analog and back again to accomplish what you set out to do in your original post. Something like a Midiman Flying Cow...
I don't want to knock your idea... however the Tascam has only one set of analog outputs that are mirrored to the headphone output. Thus, in order to set up the correct loop, you won't be able to monitor the signal return from the rack gear.
If you have a unit in your rack with S/PDIF in's and...
Greetings all! I'm looking for a CM Labs Dashboard unit or MotorMate to add transport controls to my venerable MotorMix unit. If you have one that you want to part with, send me a PM or e-mail.
Much thanks,
David
*** THREAD CLOSED *** - Found a transport control today that will fit the bill!
I would steer away from a vintage 55s as a primary vocal mic. On the flip side, I have a new 55 SH-II that sounds very nice. But the old 55's by and large are not anywhere near what we have come to expect in a modern HR environment. Plus at that age there are too many variables that could...
Thanks to you both.
Guitarplayr82, you are exactly correct. #1 is the Shure, #2 is the 3525, and #3 is the 2020.
Interesting that Steenamaroo felt that #2 was much different than the others... The 3525 (#2) has a markedly smaller capsule than the Shure and the 2020, which both have 1"...
Setup: I'm in a position where I'm just getting started on my space in the new house (after several years in a downtown loft), and I'm going to be able to track live drums again. However, most of my good drum mics are long gone, save for a handful of SM57's, a kick mic (AT Pro25), and an odd...
