Ok how many strat and or fender guitar lovers?

Jag-Stang For Mayor I hear ya lazyboy, the Jag-Stang is a love it or hate it guitar. Lots of people hate it, lots of people love it. I love it. I honestly never had any bad encounters with the pickup selectors...I prolly hit them maybe a few times but nothing bad. I really like the neck on it...

    The more mics, the better?

But then again, you only need as much as you'll use...You don't have to get 50 different mics just to have them. Get what you need. Do the right thing and get a number of SM57s and maybe a few 58s...EVERYONE has 57s. Find a few good condensors (vocals, drum overheads, room mics) and good pres...

Tascam 414 MKII vs. Fostex x-34

It's alright, it just doesn't compare to the 688. It's more of a 424 with 8 tracks than a 688 is. Let's just say that the 688 was aimed more towards pros when it was released in 1989 at a price of $3500 or so.

    Build Yr Own ______

I was at the book store today and I picked up a book about building your own effects and such for music. Ring modulator...compressor...etc. Call me cheap, but I didn't buy it. I was wondering if anyone knows any websites that has plans and such for building your own effects.

Ok how many strat and or fender guitar lovers?

I'm a big Fender fan...I've never found another brand that I like as much. My lover is a Fender Jag-Stang (fiesta red) with a Seymour Duncan JB humbucker at the bridge and a Hot Rails at the neck. I'm looking at getting a Mustang (69, red probably) next. I also love the Jazzmaster, and I'm...

    Acoustic Treatment Advice?

I am now the proud owner of my own studio upstairs in my house (used to be sisters' room). The room is 20' long by 16' wide, and the ceiling is arched in a way that it's 7' tall in the middle of the room for about 6' then angles down on both sides, and at the bottom of the angle the room is...

    Removing Vocals

sonusman, I find that hard to believe...especially if no one hears the recording. Do all musicians and/or the publishing companies have ESP and can tell when you record their songs? heh...I better release all my cover recordings before the FBI shows up at my door....

    Audio cassette

I'll lend my 2 cents...listen for subtle noises, changes in volume/quality...etc. If it sounds like a constant flow, with no noises, or anything like that, chances are there are no pauses. In many cassette recorders you'll get a little quiet 'blip' or 'pop' type noise when you hit record or stop...

In praise of Tascam's cassette multitracks

I have a 688 and I think it sounds wonderful.

Tascam 414 MKII vs. Fostex x-34

It's prolly the best 8 track cassette porta out there. It sounds great too...awesome machine.

    Getting rid of stick clicks

Vote Yes for Stick Clicks If you ask me, I say reconsider taking them out...in other words...consider keeping them in! Stuff like that adds character to a song, it shows the world you're actually human instead of some clean cut, perfectionist band. Don't take this the wrong way...I just think...

Simple question, with hopefully simple answer about old 488's (gray)

I'm gonna take a shot in the dark (I could be COMPLETELY wrong), but I believe this involves panning and recording from that bus. Does the 488 have the option to record Direct, or Buss L, or Buss R for each track? If so, let me give you an example. Plug a mic into channel one, first XLR input...

    Danelectro

I'm a Fender guy...I only really dig Fenders, but I must say I like the Danelectros a lot...if I were to ever betray Fender, it'd be with a Danelectro :) They sound awesome, they just seem a little cheaply made...the body is made of some wacky material.

I am new to it all, and I can wait to record, but....

Think of the little things...fireproof metal cabinets for reels, music stands, benches, chairs, seats...whatever...lots of mic stands, acoustic treatments, good quality cabling, clean power...big locks on the doors if you are doing it out of your home :) reel to reel maintenance equipment (head...
