    Seymour Duncan Dimebucker

Has anyone here tried the Seymour Duncan Dimebucker? Now that I have the right pickup for my SG, I want a ridiculously high output metal pickup for my Ibanez. It's a rather dark guitar, and the pickup seems kind of bright from the specs, I was wondering what anyones thoughts are on these pickups?

    Pickups 101

What kind of music do you want to play with it? Seymour Duncan 59's are standard classic rock pickups.

    Pickup tone comparisons

The point of my original post, though rambling, was that the stock Gibson pickups suck, and for how much the guitar costs it would be a waste of money not to put something decent in it for pickups. The difference will be huge, instantly noticable, and definitely worth the cost. Atleast replace...

    Pickup tone comparisons

I really doubt Gibson is going to let Seymour Duncan post clips of the same guitar playing the same riff with each pickup to show how bad the Gibson one is... I recently upgraded the bridge pickup on my SG standard from the stock one, I was willing to give up a decent clean sound to get a much...

    best pickups for metal ?

Check out the seymour duncan livewire pickups. They're 18V active pickups that are supposed to be less compressed than EMGs, I haven't tried them, but from the specs they should be more lively sounding than EMGs.

    yay

I just installed a pickup for the first time tonight. I had prior experience soldering, but none with guitars. After getting everything set up (pickguard off, strings off, etc.) it took less than 30 seconds of soldering for the one pickup. The seymour duncan site has almost every variation of...

    My Christmas Gift!

I finally got the pickup in tonight, got it restrung, played it for a couple of hours, and I've reached my verdict... It's exactly what I wanted, and it sounds better than I expected! The custom custom is insanely fat sounding, its dark yet articulate and has tons of mids. The bass has a lot of...

    SG Pickups... I gotta problem...

Are you sure you didn't hook the JB up so that its coil-tapped? Did you adjust the height of the pickups?

    Epi Dot or Ibanez Artcore?

I've played a lot of Ibanez guitars and a lot of Epiphone hollowbodies. Both are great for the money, but are better in different ways. The Ibanez are without a doubt built more consistently and it is very hard to find a bad one, the feel and finish of these guitars is great for that price. The...

    My Christmas Gift!

Pickups are definitely about patience, I'm learning that now having that nice pickup sitting in a case right beside my guitar, not being able to put it in yet. :( I think I'm going to put it in normally first, no coil tap/parallel/out of phase fancy stuff, I don't have the switches for that...

    My Christmas Gift!

I just got a Seymour Duncan Custom Custom pickup for my Gibson SG. I haven't put it in yet, I'm going to get a new soldering iron tomorrow, and I'll be sure to post some comments when I'm done testing it out :D

Metalcore Bands and Gibson SG guitars

Have you played one in the last 40 years? SG's have really thin necks (the 60's profile, which is common amongst the Standard, 61 RI, and Supreme, which are certainly the best representation of what an SG is about currently) which are thinner than strat's necks, closer to that of a thicker...

    Seymour Duncan Custom Custom

Based on some comments from the guitar rigs and setup thread I decided to start a thread on the pickup. I haven't heard one, other than from the samples on the seymour duncan site, and it sounds like it would go well in my SG. I was wondering what everyone thought about them? and would like...

Why do EMG humbuckers don't fit on Stratocasters?

Neither of those bands has a heavy guitar sound at all, you definitely don't need EMGs to get that sound.

Why we like certain guitars and not others

-The feel of a tung oil finished maple neck with a rosewood fretboard. -25.5" scale rather than 24.75" -Good upper fret access like on Ibanez bolt-ons rather than the square heel on a Strat -The Les Paul type controls. 2 vol, 2 tone -A flatter fret board, the rolled edges on Fenders feel...

Set Neck Vs. Bolt on Neck

I don't see much difference in sustain, which will usually be changed so much with the volume and gain of the amp that its hard to tell how much is from the guitar. There is a huge difference in sound, there will be a different "snap" as someone called it. The attack is very different, I don't...

HOW many guitars do you need-want ?

Just an update, I would also need a resonator and a 12 string acoustic. that makes 8 that I need.

what do you guys think of the Martin backpacker guitar?

Try the Yamaha silent guitar. They play really nicely, the wings detach so its quite small to transport or store and it has a built in preamp and headphone jack.
