I tend to think that generally T.C. and Lexicon offer almost two kind of distinct flavors. This of course is a subjective generalisation but I guess I find the TC verbs, on average, kind of 'airy' without being harsh. I kind of like the way the T.C. stuff doesn't bury the...
Re: is there any way that you can wire a mic cord to stereo and still have a good sound?
Think of it this way. Supposing you were only born with ONE ear.. say your left one! Now rather than fit a right ear to the other side of your head and attach it's output to the appropriate 'right ear'...
Re: Funny... I've found the exact opposite to be true... (for me!)
I haven't checked out the MPX-1...
...DITTO!
Speed Demon rather than take our words for it, see if you can set up an instore demo for an hour or so. Bring in your fav mic and instrument and see for yourself.
I've compared it to the MXP100 and MPX200 and there was NO comparison. M-ONE... hands down!! Okay so these are the low end Lexicons after all! Personally I think the cheaper Lexicons are a bit overated... still it's a matter of personal choice. Now as far as the MPX500 is concerned I have a...
The threshold is the level, upon which being reached, that the compression process begins to take place. Below the threshold point the compressor theorectically should have no effect on the signal dynamics. A 'sharp knee' compressor will begin modifying the signal dynamics as soon as the...

I haven't seen these mentioned around any of the forums. A friend of mine recently purchased a couple of small diaphragm condensers for about $80 US.

Do they make their own products or are they another Asian knockoff?
As for the comparison? Well the acoustic guitar sounded like it has a laminated top with fairly nuff strings. It don't ring at all and there are almost zero overtones. So the source doesn't make for a real good comparison. From what I've read on this thread I assume the second track is the RNP...
Ditto... both.
The standard general purpose dynamic mike is the Shure SM57.... relatively cheap at around $80. It will work on most things from guitar amps, to drums... even vocals.
Condenser mikes will generally give you a crisper more present sound than a dynamic mike. The are generally...
I have four sets and can recommend them. I wouldn't be inclined to use them for mixing as they have a slightly 'smiley face' response but they are plenty loud enough. The bottom end is not as ridiculously boomy as seems to be the fashion these days.
Studio Projects C3
Studio Projects make a stereo multi-pattern mic called the LSD2.
It's essentially two C3 mics in one housing.
I posted some info on the multi-pattern Studio Projects C3 here....

Re: Re: C1 versus C3
Hi Steve
The pres I used with the C1 were Neve 3115 module with a Phoenix Audio Class A output stage, some homebuilt pre's using a LM394 supermatched pair and Mackie VLZ PRO pre's.
The Mackie's were the worst, tending to emphasis the 'edge' factor. The other two were...
C1 versus C3
I recently compared the C1 and C3... the C3 being the multi-pattern version. As for the hype floating around suggesting a C1 sounds like a U87... it does NOT!
I own a Neumann U77 which is similar, but not identical to a U87. A friend also owns an 87 and we also compared both...
I agree if someone was planning on buying two RNP's they should at least check out a MPX-4A first. I used one about six months back at it was amazing. I haven't yet tried an RNP but it would have to be pretty damn good to blow the Sytek away. My understanding is the RNP may have a little more...
Hi Justin
Sorry for eavesdropping but I liked your track. The drum tracks are nice and punchy but the vocal sound in comparison to the backing is well... a bit lame. I don't mean your vocal performance which is great, it just could be a tiny bit gutsier. It's kind of a bit too 'nice' sounding...
G'day from Downunder.
I was looking around for some extra heavy duty mic stands to mount my LD condensers with the boom fully extended. Most of the stands I've seen are too light weight in the base. I recently saw some large imported fans mounted on a large cast iron pedastal stands... about...
