what will soon be my control room has some pretty bad reflections in it. A nice 'ping' sound. Im not exactly sure what frequency is dominating, and id like to find out so maybe i can help treat it. I believe the dimensions of the room are 9x6 or somethin (ill break out the tape measurer...
can someone send me a good link to some info on mixer routing and other shit like that? Im in the need of a good read, and i figured i should do some learning on that subject.
with that bad-daddy would i be able to send a mic to the pre, then send the amplified signal to a compressor, then back to the channel and then mix that compressed signal?...i may have worded that terribly, so try to bare with me.
if a control room doesnt have any harsh overtones or reflections, whats the point in acousticing it? Doesnt the room add somethin to the sound that acousticing would just take out anyways? And isnt it more important to get the control room acousticly correct to monitor accuratly?.
alright, i already have one ksm-109 that i use as an overhead, im lookin to get another to use as in an X/Y overhead setup. Im also going to get a hihat mic, so i was looking at the MXL. Then, i was thinking, maybe i can just use the MXL's as overheads, and the shure as the hihat mic. This would...
has anyone here ever recorded an acoustic track, then recorded the same exact track with an electric? I dont happen to have an acoustic around, or else i would just try it, so i was wondering if anyone has done this and how it sounded. Maybe a clip or something.
I need somethin with fancy buttons and sliders and other duhickeys...what would you recomend?
Im lookin for a new mixer, 8-10 mic pres, eq, phase reverse, phantom power, all that jazz. Not too much money (probably up to $300 or so). Tell me if there even is one that i can get for that much...
I may just be a dumbass, but isnt that impossible?
As far as i remember the definition of a square is a shape with two sets of parrallel lines that meet at 90 degree angels. or somethin like that.
if you read about proffessional drum recording, i think it was the who that gave a good example of it, they all say, hit the cymbols quiet and the rest of the kit will come right out. Rather than getting a quieter hihat, you should try to figure out how loud you like it each peice to sound, and...
i havent ever used them, but whenever you read reviews for them, they usually talk about how terrible they are and how they break within a week, unless, of course, they come broken. If your budget concerned (which i assume you are seeing as yer looking at nady mics) there are alot of better...
well....our old band was terrible. Weve done alot more to give these songs more energy and dynamic range since then. I do write alot of songs in time singatures like 3/4 or 7/8 but nothing too crazy. If youd like to hear some bands that i like, i can put up some links so you can see where my...
thanks man...i was thinkin id also need a whole shitload of alcohol to get that perfect sound. Whenever i compare my vocals to these vocals there always just somethin missing in mine...i think its that liter of vodka that makes all the difference. These vocals are just so great that theyre...

theres a video of Pat Thetic from anti-flag tracking drums in a big ass auditoruim. Ive never tried anything like this, but theres a starewell where i go to school that has the craziest reverb ever and i always think about tracking drums in there...
