Easier said than done, besides it's more than just the room. Don't get me wrong these speakers seem very well built and look the part, there's even detail in the upper frequencies I don't always hear on standard speakers, it's the mid and bottom end that mushes the overall sound. Simple music...
The monitors are very close to the wall and about 6 ft from either corner of the room. This is why i purchase front ported speakers, and besides i've been in studios where the speakers are just as close, but they didn't sound this muddy.
Theres just no "air" about them. If you stick your...
Hi, well it's a small room, 13ft x 15 not too many soft furnishings which probably don't help but then im only sitting 2ft from the speakers. This a real mystery to me. I didn't expect them to be so poor. My old 2.1 Philips speaker system that cost £35 four years ago sounds cleaner.
Well.....mud basically. No wait, mud in a box would be more accurate. Honestly guys, the bottom and mid ranges are awful on these. Where is the tight bass and open and detailed top end i've read about? They're anything but clear. The mud and rumbling bass just gets worse as i turn them up. I've...
Are any of these monitors better for being positioned close to a wall ? Just realised the BX5a's are rear ported, will that effect how they sound?
Rodd
I would have thought with heavy rock, guitars should be pretty high in the mix?
It does worry me that you'd have to boost them, so how do more subtle guitars appear?
I'm happy to go with the bx5a's, having read and listened to alot of opinions and reviews about the KRK's, certainly on YouTube...
Well i just ordered the BX5A's at £167 (should be £299) so i guess they must be atleast in the ball park of RP5's if not better?. Its always going to be a matter of opinion of course. Fingers crossed i made the right choice!
Now just need the cables...Guitarport> RCA Phono L/R to TRS L/R...
I actually live in Chesterfield which is north east Derbyshire. It's just as easy to travel to Sheffield though. We visit the Lake District often too, which is like the Peaks but on steroids..lol
Haven't bought the speakers yet. This is usual for me though, i'll never hang myself...lol. I have...
So...last chance guys.
Anyone have problems with the M-Audio bx5a's for rock music ? (recording and listening)
i'm going to order today for sure.
@grimtraveller
Did you visit the Peak District? It's one of the most beautiful areas in the UK and literally starts 5 miles from my front door...
Guys guys guys.... i'm near Sheffield, Def Leopard and Arctic Monkey country...lol :D
Anyway back on subject...at the end of day one of researching which speakers to buy, bearing in mind cost very much over rules quality unfortunately for me, i have finally arrived at a conclusion. I think...
Mackie MR5 vs Rokit rp5 G2?
Ok guys, just been speaking to a friend who also highly recommends the Mackie MR5's.
Since there are no stores around me that stock all of these speakers it leaves me making an online purchase.
I think the MS40's have a lot reliability issues reported. So ive...
Hi Guys and thanks for the replies.
At the moment heres where im at.
1. Rokit RP5 G2
2. Behringer MS40 (even cheaper than Rokits but do they sound as good/ reliability ?) Many good reviews too.
3. M-Audio AV40 (changed my mind on the bx5a, outside my tight budget)
I guess the battle is...
Haven't considered headphones yet, i've been using a pair of pretty average senheisers. I'll be making another post soon no doubt for headphone recommendations (on a budget lol)
Also ive been wondering about the Behringer MS range of speakers. Seen some pretty good reviews but think they maybe...
Hi Guys! It's time to upgrade my lame generic pc speakers for something which i can actually use. I play mainly alternative rock music (band of horses, pixies, killers etc) and i dont have any need for massive bass. My setup is in a small room hence the small speakers and budget is tight too...
