If you know how to solder, a way to cut costs is to buy a couple hundred feet of cable and the connectors and make your own. Of course if you don't have a use for that many cables it's overkill, but if you're running studio and need lots of mic cables, that's a great way to do it.

How many rhythm guitar tracks are you recording?? You wanna full, oversized killer sound?? Record at least 4 rhythm guitar tracks (6 if you are a tight enough player) and pan them about 80% left and right.

It largely depends on the mics you are comparing but usually for drum overheads it's best to use small diagphragm condensors.

I tried a friends 240's and I prefered my 7506's. The 7506's are a LOT louder than the 240's and I prefered what I heard... both are very comfortable though for long sessions!
